  1. Is it just me or is this year's tourney particularly insane?
  2. That sucks. As an Illini fan, yes I want every little advantage we can get, but it sucks so much for a guy who has worked his butt off and now looks like he will not be able to play in the tourney for 2 straight years despite being a major player on a really good team
  3. C Will Smith 50 1B Paul Goldschmidt 100 2B Brandon Lowe 50 3B Josh Donaldson 150 SS Fernando Tatis Jr 75 OF Juan Soto 100 OF Kris Bryant 75 OF Cody Bellinger 200 OF George Springer 150 DH Vlad Guerrero Jr 50 PM'd bench players
  4. There was an article in the Athletic the other day about this. If Kane plays to 40 like he may well be able to do, he very well could end up #1 While missing something like a full season due to lockout/pandemic
  5. Fitzpatrick is the worst talent choice available? It seems like they already have a good tank candidate in Foles, though starting Coward again would really put the finishing touch on a tank job. I meant of guys who wouldn't be a joke of a starter. Like, Andy Dalton is out there, but nobody could really see him as a guy who pushes this Bears team to the playoffs. You could at least sell the argument of Fitzpatrick as a guy who makes plays and has experience. I don't think they could even possibly sell Foles as the starter going into '21 without being eviscerated in the media.
  6. I kinda want them to make the worst (talent-wise) choice possible (Fitzpatrick?) and accidentally tank, getting Nagy and Pace fired. 2022 QBs worth checking out from a quick look at 2022 mocks: Sam Howell (UNC), Tyler Shough (formerly of Oregon, transferring), Kedon Slovis (USC), Spencer Rattler (OU), and JT Daniels (UGA)...
  7. Glad someone is filling Mark Gonzales' shoes
  8. Who is Pettine knocking boots with in this scenario? VIrginia?
  9. The Big Ten better get a game on the schedule for Illinois... That'll be 3 games cancelled all because of issues on the opponents' side (though I know UM's team itself didn't have any cases)
  10. Weird story... I lived/worked in a small town where the HS is a big rival of the one Collins attended. I was there from 2013-2016, but in that time, I got to see the local boys play against two guys who went/will go on to become first round draft picks. Collins, and Josh Jacobs. Collins wasn't hugely impressive (he was only a Soph. and mostly stood out playing QB) but Jacobs was in every way a man among boys on that field. He was incredible.
  11. He'd probably.immediately become the most talented passer in Bears history, but I think he's had too many injuries and is too immobile to last behind the Bears line as currently constructed.
  12. I would guess that most prospect lists are going to be shaken up like crazy midseason and at the end of this year assuming we get actual minor league ball played.
  13. Gordo isn't entirely wrong about his tone in the article, but Lester not sticking around isn't the reason to be upset. Honestly, he's cooked and it would have been better for them to not even make him an offer and just say, "Jon, you were awesome but we're going to look at some young arms this year." They're only tangentially interested in competing this year, and Jon may not have even helped that much in that regard. Most teams are going to probably have a starting rotation that ends up with about 7-8 guys regularly starting (10+ starts each) if this ends up a 162-game season, why not throw a bunch of guys at the wall and see what sticks when you play in what will likely be the worst division in baseball?
  14. I don't see how he's not elite. If you think Cam Newton was worthy of a #1 pick (MVP season says he was before injuries), then Fields is certainly worth a top 5. Similar style player, but I think a much better, more experienced passer coming into his draft. He's certainly got his warts, but those deep balls he was dropping into his WRs breadbasket 50 yards down field were special.
  15. I wonder if there’s a veteran catcher out there with a long, storied career who could mentor Amaya for a season. Perhaps even has a ton of experience in the NL central and could pass along that expertise as well. (At this point, might as well right? Burn it all down) I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit
  16. Yep. Get the best value possible for him and Keith, tank like crazy this year playing every young fringe guy we have and see who sticks.
  17. Might as well. If they're not trying to win, trade everyone with real value that won't help you when you plan to compete next. Don't trade Bryant or Baez yet, because they need to rebuild value. And maybe don't trade Hendricks, because I'm pretty sure he can do what he's doing until he's 40.
  18. Whoa, if Preciado is above Howard, that's a legit prospect.
  19. You know, the BCS sucked, but at least it was objective. I know that Bama, Clemson and OSU are almost certainly the 3 best teams followed by a bunch of flawed but similar teams,, but it honestly doesn't feel like a non-P5 team even has a legit chance.
  20. saw someone (just a random guy I follow) on twitter speculate that the Big Ten will cancel all games next week that aren't the title game. Honestly, it seems like the best course of action. The crappy teams (Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, etc.) don't need another game. The mid-tier teams are who they are and will play the same bowl games regardless. IU has covid issues and should be locked into a good bowl regardless. It's just about getting another data point for OSU.
  21. he drove a used toyota camry. pace liked his modesty I woke up this morning thinking on the bright side, if the bears tank the rest of the season they have a legit shot at a QB in the 1st round worth drafting. Then I remembered that the NFC East existed and now I'm depressed again Well, the Cowboys probably won't draft a QB in Rd 1 even with Dak returning from a bad injury. Giants may stick with Daniel Jones. Eagles could be in the market, or could believe Wentz still has enough. Gotta root for Washington to win that division and thus pick behind the Bears.
  22. Unless Ball or Wiseman is there at 4, I think I'd like them to trade back with the Knicks and get 8, 23, and maybe something like a future pick swap? Just don't think Advija, Toppin, Williams, etc. is far enough ahead of the rest of the pack that you couldn't get someone comparable at 8 (maybe even one of those 3 above?) and someone good at 23 (Saddiq Bey? Desmond Bane?)
  23. I definitely can see it. Keuchel, Grandal and Abreu are all a year older, still a ton of young and unproven/unknown pitching (which can go a lot of ways but has kinda busted so far). Then a guy like Anderson probably regresses since it’s hard to run BABIPS at the levels he has in 19 and 20 repeatedly (high .300 BABIPS are tough with his swing and miss profile and good but not like Ichiro/Juan Pierre speed, even like a .320 BABIP and his numbers aren’t special). So will be interesting how much LaRussa gets blamed for that vs it being just some natural correction. Hopefully all of it horsefeathers him Hopefully none of it and Rick Hahn is the fall guy and comes and leads the Cubs to their next WS after trading for whatever Sox are still good.
  24. Hope STL makes more moves like this so they can lock up Yadi and Wainright. Always in favor of our rivals getting rid of productive players to show loyalty to old guys.
  25. I have not had the time of my life.
