  1. It's been like 3 different coaches, completely different teams, but like clockwork they lose all February long which always include a couple blown 2nd half leads, a Wisconsin loss, and somehow always a loss to a bad Northwestern, Rutgers or Nebraska team. Thought they were going to win last night, defensively they're very good, offense is just a mess. Xavier Johnson sure, he's fearless but, he also can't shoot, his terrible shot selection is basically a turn over. When Wisconsin packed it in why couldn't Stewart or Thompson get a nice open look? You'd sure feel better about your chances with those guys shooting than Johnson trying to create or shooting a three. Thompson's last jumper was about a foot short, which is about as good as Johnson's which were about a foot too far to the left.
  2. I thought he would be a solid player, the type that always sticks around, but is probably never more than a 3rd guard on a good team. But he has really taken off playing with such good teammates.
  3. Jaden Ivey is ridiculously good. Illinois missed a ton of shots they usually make, but it only would have made the game closer because Ivey was just so dominant.
  4. any reason to play Pulisic in the 2nd half? I'd keep him off and maybe even look to remove Weston late to keep them from injury
  5. Boy did we need that. Great service from Acosta. And McKennie is so good in the air
  6. Adams coming off is bad news. Need to get someone in for Gyasi
  7. I know Pepi is more promise than production recently, but Zardes over Pepi in a huge game? C'mon
  8. But here's the thing... Clemens and Bonds might have been gigantic horsefeathers, but they didn't even break any rules by using HGH (no MLB rule against it 'til 2011) or steroids (no rule against them til 2005) and neither one tested positive for anything at any point while playing. Even if you want to lop off their stats from 2005 til the end of their careers, Bonds still hit over 700 HRs with a BA over .300 and Clemens had well over 300 wins and 4000 Ks. Gaylord Perry was an admitted cheater. Amphetamine use was everywhere during the 60s and 70s. Fergie Jenkins was once banned from baseball (overturned later) because of cocaine possession. Nobody cared about people using PEDs until they decided they did. The BBWAA is a joke.
  9. as an Illini fan, I expected Ayo to be a solid pro... but what he's doing this year is well-beyond what I ever expected from him. What a great situation he landed in. Getting to work with Lavine and DeRozan every day has got to be so great for him. And learning NBA defense from Caruso and Ball sure doesn't hurt either
  10. I think I'd be ok with that mostly because it seems like they have a lot of similar-quality options at GM, so let's pick a good one and then zero in on a coach
  11. Not nearly to the same extent,, but still baffling - the Cubs had 5 of the top 12 (including Jody Davis at 10th!) And 2 more tied for 17th. It almost looks like Vance stuffed the NL MVP ballot box that year.
  12. Gotta be the second one... I think even Pace knows you just can't hire Nagy right now as any more than like an analyst. Dude was an offensive coach whose offense sucked repeatedly.
  13. Funny you say that because I saw this tweet today: Very cherry picked so it doesn't refute your point but I don't think he's been as bad as many think. He hasn't. well, wasn't expecting those numbers. Guess I was wrong.
  14. I think Vuc limits their ceiling. He just can't guard anyone, so if he's not making shots, he's useless.
  15. non-Bears note.... I hate the focus on Justin Jefferson trying to break Randy Moss' yardage record for a season... I mean, even if they force feed him the ball and he gets it, he had an entire extra game! It's not the same record...
  16. Correct. Baseball constantly trying to appeal to people who don't like baseball rather than make the experience better for people who do. 'Attendance is better for sporting events with competitive stakes' is not a fact I expected to have to argue, because is obviously and objectively true. But how much would fans of those teams consider those competitive stakes in your proposal?
  17. I want Byron Leftwich, but I feel like it makes too much sense for him to go to Jacksonville
  18. BDN is absolutely going to come out firing and lead the Bears to victory, postponing Nagy's firing at least one more week
  19. This DB is decimated and it already wasn't good. Only so much a guy can do lol For real, Johnson is their only good DB. Gipson is fine, DHC isn't awful but he just went out, Jackson is probably ok. Everyone else is pretty much street free agent quality.
  20. Wonder where he might end up if he moves
  21. penalties on 4 straight plays in Bama-UGA
  22. Fair point
  23. Can you imagine how bad the football would get? There aren't 32 capable QBs as it is, and as Bears fans we know that without a good QB, you might as well write off the season if you don't have an historically good defense.
