  1. Davies is a bum, and yet he is likely (because prospects) to be the best player we got in return from a guy who had a legit shot at the CY last year.
  2. really sucks when an obviously wrong strike call changes the entire AB at such a crucial time in the game
  3. Odds of us scoring again today just plummeted
  4. Javy better do something cool since he about got himself out dogging it on the bases there
  5. Yeah, if Rizzo is extended, and one (or more) of these bat-first catchers develops well, they'll likely have a ready in-house replacement for him depending on the length of the extension. Also, with the electronic strike zone becoming more and more likely over the coming seasons, bat first catchers will definitely be in high demand. The list keeps growing: Ethan Hearn (20) Ronnier Quintero (18) Brayan Altuve (18) Moises Ballesteros (17) Adan Sanchez (15, will be 16 at signing) With the DH seeming likely to be added too, that's another slot for a bat first catcher.
  6. same drop: Tatis SS $75 add: Baez SS $75
  7. Right, it's a PR risk not a legal/contractual one I'm guessing the majority of KU basketball fans don't care that he cheats. He got it in his contract that he gets half his money even if KU is hit with sanctions and he's suspended!
  8. Wonder if they will consider Wrigley since we’ve been trying to get one for years and aren’t currently on the calendar. Though I’m not sure I want it in a year where it may be like 50% attendance Considering Daddy Ricketts probably has dumped millions into voter suppression efforts across the country I would say no Right? Can the next step be ridding MLB of dirt bag owners?
  9. JD still wearing a shirt and tie under his Marquee jacket. lol First dumb COBS thing to happen this year: Bote boots a routine grounder, never-ending stream of calls for Nico to be up restart
  10. Look, the Cubs as an organization suck even more than your typical sports franchise. And yeah, they'll probably be on the outside looking in at the end of the year. But I'm excited to watch baseball again, if only for a week or two. Can't wait to hear whatever crowd is there react to a 300 foot flyball as if it's headed for Waveland.
  11. Wolters swung at a pitch that hit him in the dick a week or two ago.
  12. I think Vooch is worth it, for a few reasons. He and Lavine can be a good 1-2 on a good team, and I believe that Donovan is a good enough coach that he will figure out how best to use them together. When it comes to draft picks, I know there's a lot of value in having good players on rookie deals (not as much as the NFL, but always a good thing in a capped league), but you're also basically hoping you can draft a guy who will turn into what Vooch already is. Makes sense to go with the known quantity if you're trying to get your roster lined up to contend. I also think that being on a decent team for the first time in his career should be a boost for Vooch and the improvement in the team will help Lavine too, when he's healthy.
  13. Is it just me or is this year's tourney particularly insane?
  14. That sucks. As an Illini fan, yes I want every little advantage we can get, but it sucks so much for a guy who has worked his butt off and now looks like he will not be able to play in the tourney for 2 straight years despite being a major player on a really good team
  15. C Will Smith 50 1B Paul Goldschmidt 100 2B Brandon Lowe 50 3B Josh Donaldson 150 SS Fernando Tatis Jr 75 OF Juan Soto 100 OF Kris Bryant 75 OF Cody Bellinger 200 OF George Springer 150 DH Vlad Guerrero Jr 50 PM'd bench players
  16. There was an article in the Athletic the other day about this. If Kane plays to 40 like he may well be able to do, he very well could end up #1 While missing something like a full season due to lockout/pandemic
  17. Fitzpatrick is the worst talent choice available? It seems like they already have a good tank candidate in Foles, though starting Coward again would really put the finishing touch on a tank job. I meant of guys who wouldn't be a joke of a starter. Like, Andy Dalton is out there, but nobody could really see him as a guy who pushes this Bears team to the playoffs. You could at least sell the argument of Fitzpatrick as a guy who makes plays and has experience. I don't think they could even possibly sell Foles as the starter going into '21 without being eviscerated in the media.
  18. I kinda want them to make the worst (talent-wise) choice possible (Fitzpatrick?) and accidentally tank, getting Nagy and Pace fired. 2022 QBs worth checking out from a quick look at 2022 mocks: Sam Howell (UNC), Tyler Shough (formerly of Oregon, transferring), Kedon Slovis (USC), Spencer Rattler (OU), and JT Daniels (UGA)...
  19. Glad someone is filling Mark Gonzales' shoes
  20. Who is Pettine knocking boots with in this scenario? VIrginia?
  21. The Big Ten better get a game on the schedule for Illinois... That'll be 3 games cancelled all because of issues on the opponents' side (though I know UM's team itself didn't have any cases)
  22. Weird story... I lived/worked in a small town where the HS is a big rival of the one Collins attended. I was there from 2013-2016, but in that time, I got to see the local boys play against two guys who went/will go on to become first round draft picks. Collins, and Josh Jacobs. Collins wasn't hugely impressive (he was only a Soph. and mostly stood out playing QB) but Jacobs was in every way a man among boys on that field. He was incredible.
  23. He'd probably.immediately become the most talented passer in Bears history, but I think he's had too many injuries and is too immobile to last behind the Bears line as currently constructed.
