  1. Wasn't there a joke on the cubs.com board about Augie Ojeda being like his favorite because he seemed to play more than he should? Ojeda and Baylor was Dusty and Macias/Neifi before Dusty/Macias/Neifi was a thing. I could also be totally making this up.
  2. Oh good you start this thread and he goes 0-for-5.
  3. I also enjoy that stuff. And there's plenty of former Cubs abroad: KBO: Jae Kuk Ryu, Brooks Raley, Jake Brigham, Donn Roach, Carlos Villanueva (non-Cubs: Jeff Manship, Alexi Ogando, Anthony Ranaudo) Japan: Casey McGahee, Kosuke Fukudome (yep), Marcus Mateo, Spencer Patton, Jay Jackson, Kyuji Fujikawa, Rafael Dolis, Phil Coke, Tsuyoshi Wada, Stephen Fife. Italy: Ronny Cedeno (also Mark Teahan)
  4. Staggeringly small sample size alert, but 2017 pick Ben Hecht, since the promotion to Eugene, has recorded every out via K.
  5. Damn, Fowler, Kaprelian and Mateo for Gray. That's a nice haul for Oakland. At the same time, Yanks held onto Frazier, Gleybar, Sheffield and others.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] And Jeffries back to Milwaukee for like the third time.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Mejia was dealt for Montero with Godley.
  8. Now where's Sosa's ring?
  9. Looks like Astros are getting Liriano and the Nats are trying to land Kintzler from the Twins.
  10. Oh sure but let's not welcome back Sammy Sosa.
  11. Here comes Rucker. Let's see how much this list changes in 4 hours. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=chc
  12. Kinda bummed to have to deal Paredes here but no doubt Wilson is a good get this year and next. Insurance at closer too if we don't bring back Davis.
  13. I just noticed Paul Blackburn has pitched 32 innings for the A's this year while doing a great Eddie Butler impression (2.25 ERA but with 3.4 k/9 and a 1.20 K/BB)
  14. And Soler falls further down the depth chart
  15. And Howie Kendrick to the Nats. None of these trades make sense for the acquiring teams. Is this bizarro world?
  16. The Rays just traded a Top 100 prospect for a lefty reliever that isn't Justin Wilson.
  17. [tweet] [/tweet] I was thinking about the possibility of getting him and Rivera in the same deal. Would certainly fit the Montgomery-type deal we've talked about.
  18. The farther I scrolled down, the more I was expecting the last few spots to be blank filled with like "29. Future 1st Round Draft Pick or IFA signing" It honestly might as well be. I'm sure Mayo or whoever put the list together just gave up trying after about 18 and threw names out there. This list will no doubt be vastly different in a few weeks/months.
  19. Definitely Almora, possibly Happ. Maybe something like Almora, Clifton, Hatch, Candelario and Zagunis? i wouldn't trade happ in this deal in a million horsefeathering years I wouldn't deal Happ either. It really depends on how much the Tigers like guys in our system and how much of Verlander's salary they'd kick in.
  20. This is what I've been saying What would you guys expect the cost to be? Definitely Almora, possibly Happ. Maybe something like Almora, Clifton, Hatch, Candelario and Zagunis?
  21. Anymore ridiculous than me recently realizing he is Clay Bellinger's kid?
  22. MLB Pipeline updated their Cubs Top 30 and it's somethin http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=chc This is their new Top 10: 1. Candelario 2. de la Cruz 3. Albertos 4. Alzolay 5. Lange 6. Little 7. Caratini 8. Hatch 9. Zagunis 10. Paredes
  23. Honestly how much worse would the pen be off if we call up someone like Maples or Pena every so often as opposed to dealing away prospects for another reliever? Strop and Rondon have also been pretty solid recently. Rondon has struck out 14 and allowed no earned runs in his last 9 innings. Strop has allowed just one earned run over his last 12.2 innings. And Duensing has also been very solid. And again, these are our 4-6 best relievers in the pen. On the Darvish rumor, how would we even match up on a deal?
