  1. I seem to recall we do a separate Winter Meetings thread every year, so here we go. Richard Justice with some lolzy predictions: https://www.mlb.com/news/7-predictions-for-mlb-winter-meetings/c-263204514 Has us dealing Schwarber for Price straight up
  2. I mean, it is the Winter Meetings. And we need another starter. And there's history with Cobb and the coaches. And Cobb has said he would like to play for the Cubs. It seems way more likely than not, but hey anything can happen.
  3. Remember how Eddie Butler exists? What are they going to do with him? He has no options left so I assume they'd put out trade feelers right?
  4. The Cardinals drafted Gregerson in 2006 and traded him for Khalil Greene.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] I love this deal
  6. I mean, I'd do that too but Boston wouldn't. They can sign a first baseman to add power to the lineup without having to trade Betts.
  7. I don't like the idea of selling low on Schwarber and yeah, Rodriguez has the injury. Barnes is meh.
  8. I really like Montgomery but I also think it's wise to have him in the same role. He's been valuable there and it's nice to have a decent option for spot starts if someone goes down with injury. With the winter meetings opening today, I'm expecting the Cobb situation to be sorted out sooner rather than later.
  9. Hechevarria is garbage. Take him out, throw in Almora and Kiermeier.
  10. Oh man, if we could do Almora, Happ, Alzolay, de la Cruz and someone like Zagunis for Stanton, Yelich and Volquez I'd do cartwheels. That contract probably would bite us and I wouldn't want it to hinder us from getting Harper. For all we know, this could be posturing/his agent doing this just to make all teams involved sweat a little bit.
  11. Tigers signed Mike Fiers.
  12. I think the last update I saw was Panik wasn't in the offer but Arroyo, Ramos, Beede and Shaw all were.
  13. The way I see it, getting him away from Coors is a huge help, and being a ground ball pitcher helps in Wrigley. And he's an upgrade on John Lackey.
  14. We don't know the return but this is a bizarre move for the Mariners. I'm guessing they're gonna go the Billy Hamilton route and assume he can play passable CF? It looks like he played 9 games in CF in the DWL in 2013 and that's it since going pro.
  15. My ideal offseason had us signing both Cobb and Chatwood, so we're halfway there. (tbh, I didn't think we'd be this close in contention for Otani). I like Chatwood a lot and that seems like reasonable money.
  16. There are plenty of better cheaper options for the back end of the rotation. Plus, it sounded like he was considering retirement if the Yankees didn't bring him back.
  17. Kintzler isn't bad but he'll get overpaid for having closer experience when, yeah Neshak is a good alternative.
  18. Yeah what Tim had is pretty close to what I'd want to do, if we get Ohtani and Cobb. Rivera seems like a no-brainer to bring back. Wouldn't hurt to add a couple of AAAA catchers too. I'd like Holland and McGee and part of me is interested in a buy-low starter such as Hellickson or Friers. And Smyly on a 2 year deal with incentives. Multiple people here have brought up Nunez but doesn't his defense rate pretty badly?
  19. Would be thrilled to land Smyly on a minor league deal just in case his arm ever stays in one piece. I can't believe Chi Chi is already getting DFA'd. He's like 2 years off a top 100 listing. Same in both regards. And the Rangers always seem like they're in need of SP help.
