  2. Don't know if it was posted here yet, but the State College Spikes agreed to a deal with, and are now an affiliation of, the Pirates. I don't have a link at the moment, but I'm sure one will get posted.
  3. I think this has been discussed before. I'd be in favor of it. Pagan won't steal as many bases, but he's got speed. We has more power than, and won't hit a whole lot worse in the BA category. He's far from spectacular in the field, but then again, niether is Pierre. I'd be all for this move if it was temporarily as long as JH spends the money wisely this offseason on our other needs, which isn't a sure thing.
  4. ...for below average backup middle infielders? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-redsmove&prov=ap&type=lgns 2 years and $2 mil is a nice contract for a player who has a career OPS slightly above .600.
  5. I really approve of that :D . Seriously, those numbers seem reasonable, as long as there are no mishaps or injuries, and with this team it's more likey that the pope gets married than the Cubs having an mostly injury free season.
  6. Last I checked there were only 8 teams in, so go ahead and join.
  7. ...the Boston/ Toronto game today has a listed starting time of 4:07? I just fnd it a little wierd.
  8. Who's who in the league? I'm in as ScottStevens's beard.
  9. I don't even remember who we got for him... who was it? Nate Spears, who last I checked had a sub-.700 OPS and some pitcher who didn't project to be a good prospect anyway.
  10. I'd more or less give him a C. He's performing much better than last season, but his numbers arent outstanding, with the exception of his SB totals. He looks like an average CF'er right now, thus the C rating.
  11. While it would be nice to have him on the bench, Catalanotto hasn't played CF in his 10-year major league career. Defensively, he's primarily a corner outfielder these days. He has played 2B though. What's stopping JH from signing him? :P Maybe it's the career .363 OBP. JH doesn't want any basecloggers on this team.
  12. Hey Derwood, the stadium is pretty nice, and I could walk there from my dorm. 8)
  13. Isn't one of Reed Johnson or Frank Catalanatto a FA? I wouldn't mind either in CF, as a platoon in RF, or off the bench.
  14. I'd go with picking up Williamson. That might just me being biased towards the Vikings ( :P ), but he has a chance to have a good season. He's fast and is a great deep threat, and with our weak wreceiving corps, Williamson is the #1 WR in Minny. Being in the NY area, I've also heard good things about Cotchery. Deion Branch should be solid too once he becomes active next week. Also, I'm not completely sold on Fred Taylor and I feel he's gonna show his age this year. Look into getting a better backup at RB.
  15. I don't see how Pods is an upgrade over Pierre, minues the OBP. They both are fast, they both have no power, and they both are average in the field. Jenkins is also a no. He's injury prone and we have enough injuries on this team. Granted, he's descent if he's not hurt, but that a significant IF. I'm also pretty sure that if he was on the team, it would decrease Murton's playing time. We're better off with Jock.
  16. Well, this proves it. Even though we've been told so already, the release of Dmitri Young was strictly b/c of clubhouse behavior.
  17. So you're saying he'll be a cub. Yeah, virtually. It wouldn't surprise me if JH inked him to a deal as his "big bat" offseason acqusition.
  18. I wouldn't mind him, but he seems like an AL type player. As vance said, he could get time at DH in the AL, whereas in the NL, he'd only be able to play first. Not that I wouldn't mind him for the bench, but I think the Royals plan to stick with him. He's cheap, he's productive, and they probably want him to supplant Mike Sweeney at 1B/DH. With Shealy and Teahan, the Royals would have some good, young, cheap production at the corners.
  19. No thanks. He's on his last legs. I expect his OPS to be sub .750 next year. He's not worth it, as he'll probably want a multi-year deal. Now, if he was willing to accept a one year $3 mil deal, I'd say platoon him with Jones/ have him off the bench. However, theres no way that happens.
  20. Update! From Rotoworld: Dmitri Young-DH- Tigers Sep. 14 - 9:51 am et Dmitri Young has reportedly decided not to play for another team this season. Young was released by the Tigers earlier this month, reportedly because he had become a problem in the clubhouse. Expect him to get plenty of chances next season, because he can still hit. 21. You reffering to his 2 walks, today? Three! Hmm, maybe Freddie reads this site. I wonder if he could talk Dusty and JH into doing the same.
  22. IIRC, it was Sosa for Soriano, Nick Johnson, Ricky Ledee, and I think Ted Lilly. Just imagine if we had pulled that off.
  23. I think it might take a little more than that, maybe throw in a mid level pitching prospect, but I would love to see Michael Young in Cubbie blue.
  24. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/hotsheet/262386.html Fox is in the team photo, and Bobby Hill is Blast From the Past after his terrific performance for Team USA.
