  1. Vernon Wells and BJ Ryan for Felix Pie and Ryan Dempster. Who's with me? :P
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2646282 Not really any surprises except for maybe Grudz.
  3. No way the Braves trade Hudson for Jones straight up. I'd do it in a heartbeat, but the Braves aren't dumb.
  4. What if Jones is in the Sheffield deal? With Matsui, Damon, Cabrera, Bernie Williams, and Giambi, I don't see much of a reason for the Yanks to want Jones. He can't play 1B and would just crowd their OF even more, unless they would in turn deal him for a 1B or pitching help.
  5. Izturis and Restovich are coming your way then! I think they will want more than that. Throw in Augie Ojeda and it's a done deal.
  6. According to Rotoworld, via NY Daily News:
  7. This doesn't mean he won't re-sign with the Cubs. Yes, I know. However, at this point, he'd have to stay injury-free (unlikely) and put up very good numbers to see time in the majors. I still hold hope for him.
  8. That's a shame. I always like Jackson. I always wanted to at least see him reach the majors in a Cub uniform.
  9. Not bad, but seeing as the Marlins probably aren't forgetting what we were willing to give up for Pierre, I think they'd at least want someone like Guzman to make it a trio. imo it's going to take more than willis and eyre. How about in addition to Les Walrond, Mac Suzuki, and Kerry Lightenburg? :D
  10. Yankees get: Dontrelle Willis Scott Eyre Cubs get: A-Rod Marlins get: Sean Gallagher Jae Kuk Ryu
  11. Not going to happen. I know, I was just making a point that it would take something like that to make me consider trading Z.
  12. No, don't even have to contemplate it. You don't trade away your only proven SP unless you get a pitcher of the same magnitude in return, in this case we're not. Now, if the Yanks throw in Phillip Hughes or Chien Ming Wang, I might think about it.
  13. In all seriousness, what would be a realistic proposal in a trade for A-Rod?
  14. ...and the managerial merry-go-round continues...
  15. The only positive I see is that bringing a "big name" manager gives me the impression that the Cubs want to win now. I like that mentality. I reserve judgment until I see what kind of off-season we have. If we get a big name pitcher (Zito), and a big bat (C. Lee or Soriano), I like our chances. Time will tell. I thought that Baker was a big name manager and he didn't bring much to the table. My thinking exactly. I think JH is hoping the 2nd time is a charm. I'm not as optimistic, but I'll hold my judgement at least for now. Also: it's now breaking news on ESPN news.
  16. Let us not forget that A-Ram has stated that it is his first choice to remain in a Cub uniform and wants to play here. That said, I hope JH doesn't screw up, and he and A-Ram get a 4-5 years deal hammered down within the next week or so. It would be one less thing to worry about this offseason.
  17. Congrats to Russ! To all those minor league experts out there, how does Canzler project and what's his upside?
  18. I'm pretty sure Leiter calls games for YES, the Yankees TV network.
  19. I know Neifi is long gone, but it is still funny to see how he is talked about in the media. This gets me thinking that maybe it wasn't just Dusty. Maybe there's something about him that makes mangaers love him  .
  20. It's unfortunately already been done. In the MLS the NY/NJ Metros became the Red Bulls, named after the drink.
  21. Why are they going to do that? Take a wild guess... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-whitesox-7-eleven&prov=ap&type=lgns
  22. Jenkins is a slightly better/ more injury prone version of Jacque Jones, IMO. We can do better.
  23. Think they'd take Izturis for Ryan Garko? :D
  24. Per Rotoworld: Aramis Ramirez - Third Baseman Oct. 5 - 9:43 am et According to the Chicago Sun-Times, people close to Aramis Ramirez say he wants to see who replaces Dusty Baker as manager of the Cubs before making any decisions on his future. A clause in Ramirez's contract allows him to become a free agent this offseason, and whoever the Cubs bring in to run the show will definitely influence whether A-Ram leaves the team.
