  1. i also remember when ruben rivera and alex ochoa were the next vlad guerrero. A lot of prospects in New York get the "one of the better prospects in the game" label without being that great. How can you leave out Ricky Ledee and Melky Cabrera?
  2. The only impact bat that I see that meets the Cubs requirements outside of Fukudome is Milton Bradley. Geoff Jenkins is probably next in line, but I think I'd rather see them grab Jose Guillen over Jenkins, but they won't do that. Free agent wise you're right. I think Hendry might pull an interesting trade for a left bat if Fukedome doesn't sign. I would have loved Bradley if he didn't have the knee problem until July or so. Jenkins/Burnitz they seem the same to me and I agree Gullen would be better.....did he have steroid problems? Or maybe they can get Jones from Detroit for Hill and Veal! Possibly realistic trade targets: Hamilton Dunn Griffey Ibanez Church Scott Drew Garrett Anderson Ethier McLouth Kubel FAs: Green Lofton Jenkins Bradley Guys in bold I wouldn't mind
  3. Didn't the Mets just acquire Estrada ad re-sign Castro?
  4. Maybe to find out if he will need to spend time next week finding a CF in Nashville. Just speculating. That's a good guess. It's entirely possible.
  5. Enrique Wilson may be lured out of retirement.
  6. If the Twins want that, give them Gallagher, Pie, Marquis, and EPatt. Including him would probably make the Twins less likely to make the deal. I was hoping we could slip him in there without the Twins noticing. Too bad their GM isn't as dumb as ours. Substitute Veal, and call it done.
  7. The Yanks think this package would get it done: If the Twins want that, give them Gallagher, Pie, Marquis, and EPatt.
  8. The Astros are proof that the Cubs could do worse for a GM. I knew this kind of stuff would happen when the Astros brought Ed Wade back into existence. He is a horrible GM, and makes Hendry look like a genius.
  9. They may not be great pitchers, but he and Dempster bring some humor to the clubhouse.
  10. Never an official announcement:
  11. He's usually a pretty solid reliever, but I don't know if he was worth giving 3 years to.
  12. Seriously though, you wouldn't know it here. I mean, Cano has legit support for being highly touted, seeing as how he's been productive and all. But Melky isn't even better than Matt Murton, yet he's viewed as their best trading chip and the one guy they will consider dealing away for a hall of famer. I swear they pull this off every couple years, talking up somebody until everybody really believes that guy is worth something. Just another reason why you should start your young cheap players whenever possible, because you never know if somebody else is going to fall in love with them when they see them play. I know what you mean. I hate that the NY media and fans think Melky is some Godly center fielder only worth trading for a really big name.
  13. Why? This trade got even better for them with them now getting Morlan, IMO.
