  1. Figgins is a nice player, but what does he really add to the team that we need? Every position he could play, we ahve someone better than him there, or too many players there already. If you say he adds versatility, Mark DeRosa waves hello. Only thing he really adds is stolen bases, which I guess is the reason Hendry would acquire him.
  2. Hahaha
  3. I wouldn't mind Ibanez at the right price, but I think his numbers are gonna start to dip.
  4. Wow, Talk about an overstatement. I would like to see Tim Stauffer instead of LeBlanc God, I wouldn't. This isn't 2005, Stauffer sucks. Seriously. I don't understand your liking of Stauffer, mhuber. This isn't the first time you've wanted the Cubs to trade for him. He thinks it's still 2005.
  5. I agree. This should be his absolute final chance. Let him start the season as a Cub. And to think I was dead set against that Tejada and Bedard deal when it was proposed. I wish I had a time machine to go back on tha t one. Ditto. Think of how Bedard would look in our rotation now.
  6. Nice INT, Ainge.
  7. Watching the SEC game, and I'm wonder when LSU became Penn State. They just threw two consecutive screen passes.
  8. I've been following the talks over at orioleshangout.com, and the general consensus is that MacPhail is going to completely dismantle the team and start over. Bedard and Tejada are pretty much as good as gone. It wouldn't surprise me seeing Roberts traded as well. Does Cedeno, Pie, Marshall, and Veal get it done for Roberts and Tejada? We'd probably have to give a bit more. My only beef with trading Pie is that our outfield would be pretty terrible unless we could sign Fukudome as well. My plan is to sign him and then make the trade. Roberts Fukudome Lee Ramirez Soriano Tejada Murton Soto Awesome. Now if only I was the GM....

  10. I like the sound of Brian Roberts batting leadoff for us, but what would we have to give up?
  11. I'd hate to have a bunch of cash spent on Marquis, Prior and Clement. I'd rather bring a young guy up and put the money into a quality hitter. Now, if the Cubs trade Marquis and Prior, then yes, it might be a nice gamble. Yea, good point. I'm assuming Prior is gone though, and Hendry is entertaining offers for Marquis, so who knows.
  12. Well, we have Soriano leading off with his sub-par OBP. If we get Fukudome and Tejada, my lineup would be: Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez Tejada DeRosa Soto Pie
  13. I doubt Prior would want to sign with Colorado, so they won't give us anything of value. That's the only reason SD will give the Cubs prospects is because it is his hometown and they expect that he'll stay and sign another contract past 2008. I'd make the deal for either one of the last two prospects, but not the first one. I thought it was all 3? Poop. If it's all three, then that's pretty sweet. I wasn't sure of the wording and I don't know if we're getting one of them, two of them , or all three.
  14. If we could get him at a very reasonably price and one year (with an option maybe), I'd give it a shot. Worse thing that happens is he doesn't pitch well and only costs us a couple million, if that.

I'd make the deal for either one of the last two prospects, but not the first one. Agreed. That's the only way we'd get anything worthwhile, if we trade Prior to someone who'd easily sign him. If the PAds are willing to give us Huffman and Leblanc, then I'd give it the green light.
  16. None of those guys look like Hendry type guys. The OF has a high OBP and the pitcher has a ridiculous strikeout to walk ratio. So we're gonna end up with the second baseman. :x
  17. Source? Not that I doubt you, just curious... That's from Rotoworld
  18. Are these guys any good? I'd love to have the Padres overpay to get a hometown guy in the fold. I looked them up on Baseball Cube, and LeBlanc and Huffman have put up decent numbers in the minors, though I don't know their ceilings. Contreras has put up ok numbers, but he's younger than the other two. Edit: Last year, BA had Huffman as the Padres 7th best prospect and said Leblanc had the best changeup in their system.
  19. Not very high. He's 27 already. I see him averaging .275/.340/.360 type numbers. Not terrible, but not starting material.
  20. Can't see the Padres agreeing to that trade.
  21. I haven't posted in this thread as much as I thought I would. Ducks lose, but Devils win!
