  1. If we could get him at a very reasonably price and one year (with an option maybe), I'd give it a shot. Worse thing that happens is he doesn't pitch well and only costs us a couple million, if that.
  2. I doubt Prior would want to sign with Colorado, so they won't give us anything of value. That's the only reason SD will give the Cubs prospects is because it is his hometown and they expect that he'll stay and sign another contract past 2008. I'd make the deal for either one of the last two prospects, but not the first one. Agreed. That's the only way we'd get anything worthwhile, if we trade Prior to someone who'd easily sign him. If the PAds are willing to give us Huffman and Leblanc, then I'd give it the green light.
  3. None of those guys look like Hendry type guys. The OF has a high OBP and the pitcher has a ridiculous strikeout to walk ratio. So we're gonna end up with the second baseman. :x
  4. Source? Not that I doubt you, just curious... That's from Rotoworld
  5. Are these guys any good? I'd love to have the Padres overpay to get a hometown guy in the fold. I looked them up on Baseball Cube, and LeBlanc and Huffman have put up decent numbers in the minors, though I don't know their ceilings. Contreras has put up ok numbers, but he's younger than the other two. Edit: Last year, BA had Huffman as the Padres 7th best prospect and said Leblanc had the best changeup in their system.
  6. Not very high. He's 27 already. I see him averaging .275/.340/.360 type numbers. Not terrible, but not starting material.
  7. Can't see the Padres agreeing to that trade.
  8. I haven't posted in this thread as much as I thought I would. Ducks lose, but Devils win!
  9. i also remember when ruben rivera and alex ochoa were the next vlad guerrero. A lot of prospects in New York get the "one of the better prospects in the game" label without being that great. How can you leave out Ricky Ledee and Melky Cabrera?
  10. The only impact bat that I see that meets the Cubs requirements outside of Fukudome is Milton Bradley. Geoff Jenkins is probably next in line, but I think I'd rather see them grab Jose Guillen over Jenkins, but they won't do that. Free agent wise you're right. I think Hendry might pull an interesting trade for a left bat if Fukedome doesn't sign. I would have loved Bradley if he didn't have the knee problem until July or so. Jenkins/Burnitz they seem the same to me and I agree Gullen would be better.....did he have steroid problems? Or maybe they can get Jones from Detroit for Hill and Veal! Possibly realistic trade targets: Hamilton Dunn Griffey Ibanez Church Scott Drew Garrett Anderson Ethier McLouth Kubel FAs: Green Lofton Jenkins Bradley Guys in bold I wouldn't mind
  11. Didn't the Mets just acquire Estrada ad re-sign Castro?
  12. Maybe to find out if he will need to spend time next week finding a CF in Nashville. Just speculating. That's a good guess. It's entirely possible.
  13. Enrique Wilson may be lured out of retirement.
  14. If the Twins want that, give them Gallagher, Pie, Marquis, and EPatt. Including him would probably make the Twins less likely to make the deal. I was hoping we could slip him in there without the Twins noticing. Too bad their GM isn't as dumb as ours. Substitute Veal, and call it done.
  15. The Yanks think this package would get it done: If the Twins want that, give them Gallagher, Pie, Marquis, and EPatt.
  16. The Astros are proof that the Cubs could do worse for a GM. I knew this kind of stuff would happen when the Astros brought Ed Wade back into existence. He is a horrible GM, and makes Hendry look like a genius.
