  1. First base, apparently. who was playing first last year? Doug Mientkiewicz, Josh Phelps and Andy Phillips Mientkiewicz and Phillips would be the starters there again barring a signing or trade
  2. Here is our winner. Jenkins is seen as an absolute last resort and as a platoon player. The Cubs' No. 1 target is Fukudome. He has yet to say he's coming to North America. That's a huge, huge decision in Japan. On Crawford, the (Devil) Rays don't need to trade him. He has a favorable contract, and they, like all teams, could use a left-handed hitter. They'd have to be blown away by an offer, and the Cubs aren't going to blow them away. This stuff about Hill and Marmol and another guy for Crawford is nonsense. My guess is that once Fukudome says he wants to come over here, the Cubs will go hard after him. That doesn't mean they'll get him, but they're prepared to make a good offer. I look for the payroll to be about $115 million, by the way. Thanks for the update Bruce. What kind of offer would you see the Cubs making to Fukudome, and who do you see as the most likely fall back option?
  3. We need to send in a team to take care of him. Who's interested in volunteering?
  4. Times like this make me wish the Dugout still existed in all its glory to completely get on this and make a mockery of it.
  5. In all seriousness, which of these guys would the Rays ACTUALLY part with for one of the packages being mentioned?
  6. He looked so much older with the goatee.
  7. What minor league OF do the Cubs have besides Colvin (who isn't going anywhere)? I've been trying to think of what else the Rays have that could interest the Cubs to make Hill and others worthwhile. Can't really think of anything. Evan Longoria? I wish. What about Ben Zobrist, JP Howell or Mitch Talbot?
  8. I'm sure the Orioles would be interested. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, and Cedeno for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal We might have to give a bit more, but its not too far off a win win. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, Cedeno, and Dempster for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal
  9. I'm sure the Orioles would be interested. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, and Cedeno for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal
  10. link Not really big news, but I'm bored at the moment so I posted it anyway
  11. it blows away the $11.75M or whatever that Hoffman makes (currently the highest for a reliever) I agree 15m is too much for a closer. But let's not compare Mo and Hoffman. I know Everyone is going to jump all over me on this one, so........ENJOY. They are both very good. You're just biased. Mo may be better, but not by a very large margin.
  12. He was as equally deserving as Beckett.
  13. I'd like Crawford, but for both Marmol AND Hill. Unless we are getting someone else in the deal or Jim has another trade lined up for someone good to replace one of the two.
  14. He's gonna take that. It's a record contract for a RP (or close to it) and he never wanted to leave the Yanks anyway. That is a lot of money for a RP, but if any team is gonna do that, of course it's the Yankees.
  15. Interesting, but without sources, I ain't believing it.
  16. I think that's the way Hendry is going to go. A lot of money right there, but I like the sound of that outfield.
