Maybe it will drive the O's asking price down? Or better yet, maybe it will make Hendry just not want him. Trading for Roberts in anything but a steal of a trade is a misallocation of resources. Focus on a good starting pitcher and a shortstop. I would think he considered this the whole time he's been pursuing a trade for him. Of course, this is Jim Hendry.

Well, Prior is gone. Now, I've had this username for years, since I was posting at the cubs.com board (which was about 5 years ago). But Mark Prior is gone. So the question, should I bid farewell to my username as well? I'll let you guys decide. Also, if you say yes, feel free to add your suggestions for my new name. I probably won't choose one of them, but who knows.

Padres probably ask for a little more, but that seems like a good trade. Here we are again, doing all of Hendry's work. They should just hire us to be the GM. Things would be a little easier.

I would hate to lose Gallagher, but I would make that trade. If we could get a mid level prospect back as well, then I'd go for it. That's a bit much to give up I think.

Hendry said he tried to gauge interest at the winter meetings in a Prior trade and there was none. I thought the Rangers and Padres had/have interest? Reds did. No way Hendry trades him within the division and risk having him pitch well against us. Or let him hit the free agent market and get nothing in return, while still going to a divisonal team. I think the odds are like 2-1 if he hits the open market he ends up in Cincy. Touche. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Few more hours...
