  1. I'd like him if we don't get Dunn. And even though he'll likely post a good OPS, his batting average last year might mean he'll take a one year deal.
  2. Well, this could be a disappointing offseason.
  3. The Yanks want him, and they're gonna get him. They'll be giving him Sabathia money and I don't want the Cubs to have another giant contract on our hands that could turn sour.
  4. I remember years of Rothchild hating around here. I think it was misplaced anger due to Dusty being terrible. I'm glad to have Larry back.
  5. I wouldn't be opposed on a one year deal, if we don't sign Dunn. I would definitely not go for Berkman over Dunn.
  6. Good for Murton. Glad to see him find success. I wish the Cubs had given him more of a shot.
  7. I've been a fan of Reynolds. And he had enough of a down year to acquire him fairly cheaply. The potential is great. But he could also post a sub .800 OPS and rack up 230 strikeouts. I think it's worth the risk if we lose Ramirez.
  8. But he's so gritty. Who could have seen this one coming?
  9. His ERA+ the last 5 years: 112 142 113 121 106 I think he'll get a three-year deal.
  10. great story. Thank you. I worked hard on it.
  11. My friends at home are Yankees fans. I can barely talk to them about baseball because they're such huge homers. Basically the stereotypical Yankees fans, though they have been a little more rational recently. Basically they asked me the other day who I thought would win the Cy Young. I said Felix Hernandez or David Price. They were appalled by my answer and feel that Sabathia is the run away winner. I tried arguing, to no avail. Their main reasoning, of course, was he wins games. He's having a great year. But he's not the best pitcher in the league.
  12. He's done a good job of trying to prove he was a worthy All-Star pick. But I don't think he does it.
  13. is absolutely hideous. I threw up in my mouth a little. Guess it's a good time to give everyone a day off. And I completely forgot about Bobby Scales' existence.
  14. They'll both be MVP candidates. Tulo's the best shortstop in baseball, until Starlin takes that crown in a couple years.
  15. It was ugly, and he did it against a struggling lineup. Still, no reason to not give him another start at this point.
  16. I'll admit to having interned as a copy editor for them. I edited a lot of BR articles. I did come across some that were pretty good and well written. But yes, there was A LOT of garbage.
  17. Angel Pagan Jim Edmonds Is Augie still in their system? I think he is, but I'm not sure. Didn't Pagan make his debut with the Mets? Edmonds never played in the Cubs farm system. I'm not sure if Ojeda is still around but good one. Pagan came up with the Mets but made his debut with the Cubs. Ojeda is still a terrible backup in Arizona. He somehow finagled more than 200 at bats in 08 and 09 each.
  18. Alabama is gonna have 600 yards of offense at this rate.
  19. it's bad timing for this game for sure. Too many good players gone from last year for PSU. Hopefully they can keep it close and stay healthy And the secondary and offensive line weren't strong points last year, let alone now after they graduated some starters.
  20. That shoulda been Bama football. Go Big Ten officials.
