  1. Two-year deal to an old, not-good backup infielder. Sounds like something we'd do.
  2. Another ex-Cub prospect is scooped up by MacPhail.
  3. Yeah, he gets innings and strikeouts, and a return to the NL might be good for him. I wouldn't mind him on a one year deal.
  4. Yeah this is a great deal for the Padres. He has way more upside than anyone they were likely sticking in the outfield next year. And those relievers are nice but the Padres are dealing from a strength.
  5. I'd love to have his bat, but if we get him and Dunn, that side of the infield will be atrocious defensively. And Hendry has overpaid in trades with the Marlins in the past (Clement/Pierre/Gregg trades), so I'd be worried he'd get talked into dealing Archer, McNutt, Lee or Brett Jackson.
  6. If they weren't Yankees, they wouldn't have won. I'm surprised they didn't give a GG to Posada.
  7. I'd like him if we don't get Dunn. And even though he'll likely post a good OPS, his batting average last year might mean he'll take a one year deal.
  8. Well, this could be a disappointing offseason.
  9. The Yanks want him, and they're gonna get him. They'll be giving him Sabathia money and I don't want the Cubs to have another giant contract on our hands that could turn sour.
  10. I remember years of Rothchild hating around here. I think it was misplaced anger due to Dusty being terrible. I'm glad to have Larry back.
  11. I wouldn't be opposed on a one year deal, if we don't sign Dunn. I would definitely not go for Berkman over Dunn.
  12. Good for Murton. Glad to see him find success. I wish the Cubs had given him more of a shot.
  13. I've been a fan of Reynolds. And he had enough of a down year to acquire him fairly cheaply. The potential is great. But he could also post a sub .800 OPS and rack up 230 strikeouts. I think it's worth the risk if we lose Ramirez.
  14. But he's so gritty. Who could have seen this one coming?
  15. His ERA+ the last 5 years: 112 142 113 121 106 I think he'll get a three-year deal.
  16. great story. Thank you. I worked hard on it.
  17. My friends at home are Yankees fans. I can barely talk to them about baseball because they're such huge homers. Basically the stereotypical Yankees fans, though they have been a little more rational recently. Basically they asked me the other day who I thought would win the Cy Young. I said Felix Hernandez or David Price. They were appalled by my answer and feel that Sabathia is the run away winner. I tried arguing, to no avail. Their main reasoning, of course, was he wins games. He's having a great year. But he's not the best pitcher in the league.
