  1. Did Fukudome die? And no on Hudson. He's not anything special anymore, would cost more than he's worth and you don't want your leadoff hitter getting on base only 33 percent of the time.
  2. That was the dumbest thing I've read in awhile. My head hurts now.
  3. I don't see a problem with this. It's only a two year deal.
  4. Unless we get the Yanks really panicking and they send us a few really good prospects, I don't know if it's worth it. Yeah, Z can be erratic, but it also leaves a big hole in our rotation. And I don't believe that Garza is better than Z, especially since the Rays' asking price will negate the return on Z.
  5. Can't believe this actually happened. The Phillies went from being the "mystery team" to signing Lee in a matter of a couple of hours. I would've liked to see him stay in Texas, but I'm glad he's not in New York. The Phils have one scary rotation.
  6. Yanks rotation if season started tomorrow: Sabathia, Hughes, Burnett, Nova, Mitre. Fantastic. They're working on signing Russ Martin to be their catcher, which would allow them to keep Montero in AAA a little longer for more seasoning. They consider him their catcher for the future and aren't planning on trading him. However, you have to think they might be in panic mode, now. Their Plan B if they lost out on Lee was to sign Crawford and trade one of Gardner/Granderson/Swisher for a starting pitcher. But the Sox took that option away. Heyman tweeted the Yanks' new Plan B would be to throw money at bullpen help. They're still the Yankees and still have a good team. But I can't remember the last time they lost out on the free agent they targeted and were left scrambling after.
  7. Colvin Castro LeHair Baker DeWitt Hill Barney Fuld but in all seriousness, I hope for: Fukudome Byrd Ramirez Pena Soto Soriano Castro DeWitt
  8. Yeah, that happened to my dad the other day when he was doing holiday shopping. He was not happy and was worried he got screwed.
  9. How does Jeff Francoeur continue to gain employment on a major league roster? Dayton Moore. And teams remembering him when he was an SI poster boy and forget he has zero plate discipline.
  10. We would not get the same quality of prospects back in Silva or Gorzellany trades. Gorzo wouldn't bring back much on his own, and Silva is still a fat pitcher who doesn't strike people out and had heart issues. Hendry should've sold high on him back in June.
  11. Wasn't sure of this was worth it's own thread, seeing as it's likely nothing serious
  12. SERIOUSLY with this? Could that be a dumber tweet? Jeebus Well, no one said White Sox fans were intelligent.
  13. That is pretty much insane. It's not like it's hard to hit in the AL East. No, but he goes from one of the best divisions to one of the least competitive. I'm not saying it's gonna make him a superstar, but a slight bump in numbers wouldn't surprise me.
  14. Not a bad option, but why? At least it's better that signing Kevin Milwood but I hope we don't have to give up any big pieces.
  15. Thank Jeebus. This was clearly the best option and I'm glad it's just a one-year deal. I would have preferred something closer to 7-8 mil, but 10 isn't too bad. A move out of the AL East and into Wrigley, and I think he posts an OPS in the .870-.900 range easily.
  16. Well, from the sound of it, he's biting his tongue at his press conference and is visibly unhappy with how everything went down.
  17. I don't see why people are pissed. He'll be good for 25 home runs and post about an .850 OPS. And he's not a terrible defender at first. I prefer Pena, but LaRoche is a decent option, too. He'll also likely be cheaper and it's not like he'd be getting more than one or two years.
  18. I'm getting the feeling that it doesn't matter at this point. The club has (stupidly) decided that Cashner can best serve the team next season strictly out of the pen.
  19. True, but you know that all we'll get is two mid-level prospects still in A ball.
  20. This makes no sense, especially if we're trying to be frugal.
  21. I'd love him back, especially because he'd strengthen the bullpen. That said, I wouldn't offer him more than 3 mil a season.
