  1. You're the only one on NSBB that would hold out for an "intriguing" prospect for Silva. Most of us would be happy if we don't have to send the other team an "intriguing" prospect to take Silva. :yahoo: I was referring to what we got back for Gorzelanny and that it's not too farfetched that they might send an "intriguing" prospect back. I'd trade him for a broken bat or used jock strap.
  2. If the Nationals wanna keep dealing us intriguing prospects for our overstock, that's fine. I know the Yankees still aren't too sure about the back of their rotation, but I don't know that they'd think Silva is an upgrade over Freddy Garcia and Sergio Mitre.
  3. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe said today if the Rangers eat some salary a deal to the Cubs could happen. I don't know if this is just speculation or there's more to it.
  4. Yeah, I'm not bothered by it. We don't need him to steal bases anyway. We need him to hit the ball again and not get hurt while hopping to catch a fly ball.
  5. I really don't give a crap how he acts on the mound. He can throw all the hissy fits he wants if he pitches like he did in the second half.
  6. Must be a Texas thing. Hopefully they aren't too attached during games. Kerry should be watching from the bullpen, while Cashner watches from the dugout 4 out of 5 games. Agreed. But I definitely don't mind Wood being a positive influence on Cashner.
  7. If Fukudome doesn't have a terrible season, I definitely wouldn't mind having him back. That said, I wouldn't give a three-year deal to a platoon/back up outfielder. One or two years at 4-5 mil per doesn't seem too unreasonable. But I guess we have to see how this season goes. If Colvin tanks and Brett Jackson hits a speed bump in his development, it could be a worthwhile signing.
  8. Utterly fantastic. Way to start the year off on a strong note, Miggy.
  9. That's not a sight I thought I'd see again.
  10. Yeah, he really does love backloading contracts. But in this case, I don't mind, mostly because of all the other money coming off the books.
  11. I'm pretty OK with this deal, considering he'd probably command more than that on the open market. Fairly reasonable contract.
  12. No to the first one, unless the Rangers add something else to it. Yes to the second. Getting rid of Silva and Grabow would be nice. And I feel like the Rangers would be way more inclined to do the second one.
  13. I was hoping no more than 7 a year. I guess it's not horrible. I just hate giving three-year contracts to relievers.

  15. I know we'll probably have another disappointing year, but I still get excited for baseball to be back.
  16. I wish they dealt him already, in a package for a good player. His name and potential probably still carry weight, but his stock has fallen.
  17. Seems about right on that last bit. Boston-Philly World Series seems pretty likely. I can see the Cubs finishing at least third. Lot of things can happen and I think the Central is pretty close between Cubs, Cards, Reds and Brewers. There's no way the Astros or Pirates finish better than us.
  18. If they stay healthy, they will score some runs. The key to the Orioles doing anything (by anything I mean maybe .500 and 3rd place finish in AL East) is the starting rotation. They actually have a bunch of talent there too, but Matusz, Arrieta, Tillman, and Zach Britton have to mature in a hurry. Agreed. They have some really good young pitchers, but I don't know if they're all there yet. I also liked their low-risk, high-reward signing of Duchscherer. I wish we had picked him up.
  19. The Orioles quietly have a pretty solid lineup now: Brian Roberts Nick Markakis Vlad Mark Reynolds Luke Scott DLee Adam Jones Matt Wieters JJ Hardy
  20. Maybe. If the Rangers kick in that much money, might be hard to say no. Would the difference between DeWitt and Young make up for Colvin getting 500 at bats? I feel like a DeWitt/Baker platoon at second would be more valuable in case Colvin slumps badly as a regular. Then again, the front office loves Colvin so much, I could see this happening as a way to give him all the starts.
  21. Yeah, but Milledge has had some success in the majors. Harvey hasn't even touched AAA has he?
