I'd definitely take a shot. One year, incentive laden deal. If he comes close to returning to form, he's better than any other starter on the open market.
That shoulda been done. Gotta take both or neither. Since they Yankees are all about respect and Hendry is respected by a lot of baseball people, I bet they would have considered it.
If we're so intent on a starter, I wouldn't hate Vazquez on a one-year deal. Harang wouldn't be a bad buy low candidate, but I'd be worried about him being considered to contribute greatly. I want no part of Padilla.
You're right. He's no Rivera. He's better. In K/9, sure. Other than that, no. He's too wild and has an odd delivery. I'd hate to give him a four-year extension and then see him blow out his arm in two years.
I can't believe King Felix actually won. This is fantastic. The only downside is getting into the inevitable argument with my Yankee-fan friends who have been saying for months Sabathia will be the hands down winner.
Chris Davis is the type of player I'd want if we were a team with the payroll of the Pirates or we were getting an .850 OPS from every other position. Since neither of those is the case, I'd prefer to walk away. I'm starting to feel like we're gonna get Pena at first and waste money on Jon Garland and Scott Downs.
I'd prefer Justin, though he'd cost a lot more. BJ has a temper and work ethic issues and has only one really good season to his name. He's only 25 and still has potential, but the Rays wouldn't dump him for mid-tier prospects either.
