  1. Probably should have stepped in awhile ago. This mess has been going on too long.
  2. But they can't read. How would they know what they're looking at?
  3. I always liked him and thought he'd make a decent platoon/4th outfielder. Didn't expect this and I doubt he keeps it up much longer. But good for him.
  4. At least he hasn't murdered his arm.....yet.
  5. I like this better than Ramon Ortiz. At least Davis has had some success in the past.
  6. He had only one good year in his "prime" (if he ever had one). I don't see how he's better than any other free agent pitcher out there. I hope he stays in AAA.
  7. Wouldn't mind Aaron Hill if he can start hitting again. I didn't realize how good defensively he is. He's had only one season of a negative dWAR in his career. Kelly Johnson might come cheaper though. And regarding Hill's options, didn't the Jays just decline all of them?
  8. Don't have WGN, so I'm watching this with a Pirates broadcast on some new station called Root. Free trial on MLB Extra Innings. It's pretty meh.
  9. First game thread post of the season. It's nice to see Pedro Alvarez get the run for us. He was a pretty solid pickup.
  10. Sucks to be them:
  11. I'm liking Quade more and more each day. And kudos to Hendry for those comments, as well.
  12. That sounds good enough for me. We need a guy who can make good things happen just be being in attendance. Seriously, he never projected as more than a backup infielder and we're better off with a Baker/DeWitt platoon, no matter what the spring stats say.
  13. Rosenthal, confirming the last part is a possibility:
  14. I wouldn't say Sherman's unreliable. He's usually right on things and has broken plenty stories before, especially ones on other teams and not just the Yankees.
  15. Millwood signed to minor league deal heavy on incentives. He can opt out if he's not on the big league roster by May 1. And Mitre was traded to the Brewers for Chris Dickerson. Not a bad return for the Yanks, who could use the outfield depth and had no need for Mitre anymore.
  16. It's a minor league deal. He's not expected to break camp with the team and will likely begin the season in AAA.
  17. Even with their surplus, the Rangers wouldn't just give Davis away, especially now that he's crushing the ball. Wouldn't hurt to inquire, but I'm not for giving up much for a bench player.
  18. Yikes. And I actually had them as the favorite in the division. Looks like the playing field is evening out.
  19. Luis Castillo was released today. Think the Cubs take a chance?
  20. He'd kind of like Joel Sherman of the NY Post. He technically covers the local team but does national stuff too.
