Oh please. He beat up the Pirates, which are the equivalent of the AAA teams he's been facing. OK, he's got some wicked stuff, no doubt. I just want to see what he can do against a team that can actually hit the ball.

I'd rather sell high on Silva, but at least we're selling high. And we'd better not overpay for a setup man. Though, outside of Marmol, Russell and Marshall, the pen's been atrocious. -
I know it's only 36 at bats, but Cpatt has this batting line so far: .278 .381 .528 .909 Good for him. Looks like he's starting to take walks, too.

They should start Patterson, Pie and Dubois in the OF, with Kelton, Montanez, Bobby Hill and Choi on the IF. Jeff Goldbach at catcher and Matt Bruback starting. Then they're set.

I don't hate it. He was effective last season. If he sucks for a few appearances, cut him or send him to Iowa. He can't be worse than what we've been sending out there, and like was said, I'd rather it be him than Cashner or Jackson. -
OK, so apparently Mike Sweeney called out the anonymous players in a clubhouse meeting and challenged them to stand up and fight. When no one stood up to accept his stupid challenge, he deduced that the reporter made the story up. Now the Mariners won't talk to the reporter anymore and kicked him out of a press conference. Can the Mariners just be contracted or something?

I was gone all day yesterday. I wake up today, check the box score from the game and see "S. Castro." I nearly had a conniption. I wanted him to stay in the minors for at least a few more months. I just hope his growth doesn't halt. Yesterday was a nice start though.

He's a good player, but I wouldn't want to pay a 35-year-old slugger $25 million.

I really liked it overall. Morgan is obviously the best pick, but Rolle might have the highest upside. Getting a safety who could have starting potential in the 6th round is a fantastic value. I really like the Verner comparisons to Nick Harper and I think Rusty Smith can be a cheap, solid backup. I really, really like the Rennie Curran pick too. He's been compared favorably to Stephen Tulloch and I really like Tulloch as well. We could have our linebackers for the next 5-7 years in McRath, Tulloch and Curran. I was hoping for a running back after we traded LenDale, but the top two are probably set with CJ and Ringer. It'll be interesting to see who we go after as undrafted free agents since there are some interesting names still out there. What did you think? I'm very pleased. I really wanted Morgan in the first and was ecstatic when he fell to us. I really like Curran as well, could definitely help this year too. I like that we added help in the secondary though the guys we brought in are sorta projects. Overall first impression, though, I think this is our best draft in a few years.

Agreed. I'm so happy with this draft. And now I'm happy we took a corner. With the Lenwhale trade, think we're targeting a RB with the next pick?
