  1. My friends at home are Yankees fans. I can barely talk to them about baseball because they're such huge homers. Basically the stereotypical Yankees fans, though they have been a little more rational recently. Basically they asked me the other day who I thought would win the Cy Young. I said Felix Hernandez or David Price. They were appalled by my answer and feel that Sabathia is the run away winner. I tried arguing, to no avail. Their main reasoning, of course, was he wins games. He's having a great year. But he's not the best pitcher in the league.
  2. He's done a good job of trying to prove he was a worthy All-Star pick. But I don't think he does it.
  3. is absolutely hideous. I threw up in my mouth a little. Guess it's a good time to give everyone a day off. And I completely forgot about Bobby Scales' existence.
  4. They'll both be MVP candidates. Tulo's the best shortstop in baseball, until Starlin takes that crown in a couple years.
  5. It was ugly, and he did it against a struggling lineup. Still, no reason to not give him another start at this point.
  6. I'll admit to having interned as a copy editor for them. I edited a lot of BR articles. I did come across some that were pretty good and well written. But yes, there was A LOT of garbage.
  7. Angel Pagan Jim Edmonds Is Augie still in their system? I think he is, but I'm not sure. Didn't Pagan make his debut with the Mets? Edmonds never played in the Cubs farm system. I'm not sure if Ojeda is still around but good one. Pagan came up with the Mets but made his debut with the Cubs. Ojeda is still a terrible backup in Arizona. He somehow finagled more than 200 at bats in 08 and 09 each.
  8. Alabama is gonna have 600 yards of offense at this rate.
  9. it's bad timing for this game for sure. Too many good players gone from last year for PSU. Hopefully they can keep it close and stay healthy And the secondary and offensive line weren't strong points last year, let alone now after they graduated some starters.
  10. That shoulda been Bama football. Go Big Ten officials.
  11. Well, [expletive].
  12. Well at least they didn't waste any time
  13. This is about what I expected. You're not gonna win when you let the ball carrier drag you for 7 yards. The Bama o-line is just sick.
  14. Well there's that. Might as well start drinking now.
  15. They're just opening a position for Hendry. They like him enough to keep him around but they know he's a terrible GM. Probably not.
  16. I'm hoping Penn State at least keeps this close. I don't wanna see a blowout.
  17. I have not understood why Soto was benched so often in favor of Hill this season. We talk about Lee and Ramirez not playing well as cause for the team's awful year. How about leaving one of the best offensive catchers in the league on the bench while we start a guy with a .550 OPS three times a week? Lou didn't have a clue this year.
  18. That's kinda funny. But yeah, the Brewers aren't ones to really talk.
  19. This has been discussed around the Internets lately. Derek Jeter, the beloved, gritty, full of intangibles and heart captain, is going to need a new contract after the season is over. According to Cot's, Jeter made $21 million this season. But in his contract year, he declined mightily. His batting line, after last night's outstanding 1-for-7 performance, stands as this: .260/.326/.366 His OPS+ is 91, the lowest of his career. His WAR is .8, also by far the lowest of his career. UZR has his defense in the toilet, as usual. He's obviously declining as a hitter, and was always overrated as a defender. If he weren't Jeter, he wouldn't get anymore than a few million on the open market. But he's The Captain. The Yanks wouldn't let him leave the Bronx. What kind of contract does he get this offseason?
  20. Let's make it easy on the Cardinals and take Rasmus off their hands.
  21. MLBTR on the rotation for next year:
