  1. Didn't that reach 100 pages or something ridiculous? I know since we've had the Peavy, Crawford and now Garza threads, but I don't think anything will ever come close to Roberts.
  2. Haven't we been interested in Frasor each of the last like 4 offseasons? Hendry better not overpay for a middle reliever, especially since I can tell he's gonna give up way too much for Garza.
  3. Is this just a random blog? There's no source or attribution. I call BS.
  4. Dang. I didn't know he was still alive.
  5. Won their fourth consecutive national championship tonight. Just incredible. That, combined with their streak of 109 consecutive wins (snapped earlier this year), where would you rank this team in terms of sports dynasties, at least on the college level?
  6. Yeah I didn't know this was a done deal yet and haven't seen it anywhere.
  7. The per-year salary is fair, but I wouldn't want him under contract for three years. Makes me feel even better about the Pena deal.
  8. For some reason I was listening to Michael Kay's show yesterday and he couldn't comprehend how someone could sign for that little. He questioned why they Yankees didn't offer more and blow him away with an offer. When his co-host said Wood just wanted to go back to the Cubs, Kay shrugged it off as if loyalty didn't matter compared to money. Just moments before that, he compared Cliff Lee to "the girl who rejects you so you hope she ends up with the fat, loser boyfriend that treats her badly." You stay classy, Michael Kay.
  9. Not worth it. If the anxiety issues increase, he'll just implode. I'd rather develop some of the pitchers we'd give up in the trade and see what they can do. Would be cheaper. Also, remember that the Royals asked the Blue Jays for Drabek, Snider and a couple other prospects. That's a lot to give up for an unstable pitcher, especially after we've done a good job restocking the farm the past few years.
  10. Mark Prior's number? Whenever I see a number 22 for the Cubs I always think of Bill Buckner. This. I wear my 1978 Buckner jersey with pride.

  12. Considering the middle of their order last year was Ryan Sweeney and Kurt Suzuki, I'd say this is a step up.
  13. Why? There are no redeeming factors to this trade. Unless Hendry thinks we need more grit.
  14. Did Fukudome die? And no on Hudson. He's not anything special anymore, would cost more than he's worth and you don't want your leadoff hitter getting on base only 33 percent of the time.
  15. That was the dumbest thing I've read in awhile. My head hurts now.
  16. I don't see a problem with this. It's only a two year deal.
  17. Unless we get the Yanks really panicking and they send us a few really good prospects, I don't know if it's worth it. Yeah, Z can be erratic, but it also leaves a big hole in our rotation. And I don't believe that Garza is better than Z, especially since the Rays' asking price will negate the return on Z.
  18. Can't believe this actually happened. The Phillies went from being the "mystery team" to signing Lee in a matter of a couple of hours. I would've liked to see him stay in Texas, but I'm glad he's not in New York. The Phils have one scary rotation.
  19. Yanks rotation if season started tomorrow: Sabathia, Hughes, Burnett, Nova, Mitre. Fantastic. They're working on signing Russ Martin to be their catcher, which would allow them to keep Montero in AAA a little longer for more seasoning. They consider him their catcher for the future and aren't planning on trading him. However, you have to think they might be in panic mode, now. Their Plan B if they lost out on Lee was to sign Crawford and trade one of Gardner/Granderson/Swisher for a starting pitcher. But the Sox took that option away. Heyman tweeted the Yanks' new Plan B would be to throw money at bullpen help. They're still the Yankees and still have a good team. But I can't remember the last time they lost out on the free agent they targeted and were left scrambling after.
  20. Colvin Castro LeHair Baker DeWitt Hill Barney Fuld but in all seriousness, I hope for: Fukudome Byrd Ramirez Pena Soto Soriano Castro DeWitt
  21. Yeah, that happened to my dad the other day when he was doing holiday shopping. He was not happy and was worried he got screwed.
