  1. best move hendry's made all off-season. and people say i'm always negative.
  2. don't worry, hendry said that he'll have that 5/50 contract waiting for him in three years.
  3. i'd be kind of surprised if len kasper was in AIM tonight dishing out hot gossip, but only on the condition that the other guy, likely a stranger who he has never met, wouldn't tell because it's confidential.
  4. He still does. Do you expect any less than a 320/430/550 line from him next season? I meant before being embroiled in the current steroid controversey. I don't care what his line is now. As far as I'm concerned, his numbers are tainted. no doubt. and i don't feel like fans should have to try and figure out what he would have done had he not done steroids. maybe he would have put up 320/430/550 w/o roids, but there's no way to tell, and i'm not about to give that cheater the benefit of the doubt.
  5. The sad thing is this is the type of analysis the Cubs organization relies upon. Completely unproven "seems to" "usually" "always" statements with no actual facts to back them up can't tell you anything about your ballclub. Corey had 8 at bats with the bases loaded last year. Burnitz, Neifi, Barrett and Ramirez all had more. And others had more total plate appearances with the bases loaded. JB hit .176/.250/.353 with the bases loaded in twice the number of opportunities. Nomar actually had similar number of chances to Corey, and hit worse, with a line of .000/.000/.000. Perception is a killer when you don't have the willingness or ability to confirm your suspicions with a little fact checking. don't you dare doubt baker...his teams go to the postseason every year.
  6. when he's not ready for spring, they'll say they never figured he'd be ready by the spring. and they won't mention anything about his meaningless bullpen outings.
  7. man, i hate these, 'if a gm does it, it must be right' statements. lots of good players get released, waived, dumped, skipped over in the draft, etc. gm's are not infallible.
  8. why is it that when another gm does something stupid, it's suddenly ok that hendry did the same stupid thing?
  9. hate to say it, but hohokam's the worst park in the cactus league. the crowds are huge, the food sucks, and the parking is awful. both tempe and scottsdale have better stadiums. but if you're looking to check out fitch in the morning before catching a big league game in the afternoon, you may want to go to the hohokam game.
  10. trade for castillo...but give him the red light on stealing bases.
  11. please tell me you're not a) calling finley a superstar and b) comparing finley (career .781 OPS) to nomar (career .911 OPS) and c) saying that finley, age 41, is bound for a good year because he's in his contract...er...retirement year.
  12. i'd rather have a crappy 25 year old than a crappy 45 year old. and for those saying finley did well in 2004...i think patterson has a better chance of repeating 2003 than finley does of repeating 2004.
  13. i love that dude's sources. if the cubs sign furcal long term and keep walker, i have no problem w/ trading cedeno while his stock is high. but if the cubs trade walker, making neifi the 2b, then i've got problems.
  14. i'm starting to think that there's something wrong w/ giles...it seems like nobody wants him. everybody's overpaying for crap, but they don't seem to want to open it up for giles. maybe he has a wooden leg that won't hold up in anything other than san diego weather. maybe he's a robot programmed to explode in 2007.
  15. slightly more power? mabry hit as many hr's last year as macias has in his past three combined. he's got roughly the same power as hollandsworth, and most people were pretty happy w/ him on the bench.
  16. option for a fifth year. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5117698
  17. i've accepted that the cubs' bench will suck.
  18. is that when the quarterly chemistry report comes out?
  19. i like when people complain about how ridiculously long threads get by posting in that thread, thus making it longer. mabry > macias, i guess. at least he's got a little pop. i'd have preferred branyan, but oh well...
  20. Hard to pass them out until after the fact, though. you know what i meant!
  21. so...are you really suggesting him as a solution or did you start this thread to throw out a 'told you so'? after the fact, of course...as it's the only way to go.
  22. how's about a rf?
  23. yeah, seriously...you guys are idiots.
  24. uk...no hill? you're dead to me.
