  1. no mercy just because you're the new guy.
  2. seriously, nice thread hijack.
  3. yeah, but the rumors seem to point towards walker being dished off. we have a few holes to fill and FA isn't going to cover it. so we're trading walker to open up another hole?
  4. how about we keep the cheap, productive 2b who wants to play here?
  5. you're going down, bitch.
  6. Don't let your concious get the better of you NC. Play hardball, screw Tim. He has already won a championship  Sssh don't tell Tim. Also don't tell Raw or Adam. Looking back at what I wrote I think I may have come off as being too harsh. My apologies if I did so. I want this league to be fun, fair and honest, but we should play to win. Besides no matter where Tim selects the Fight'n Quakers will kick his butt in 06! :smokin: i took your comments personally, and i will have no mercy on you next season. bulletin board material, my friend. :axe:
  7. i've always wondered what kind of fantasy b-baller goony would be.
  8. i'm confused.
  9. if the cubs sign neifi and trade walker, i don't know what i'll do. they'd be making similar $, so the cubs would essentially be saying that neifi > walker.
  10. i'm as happy about this trade as padres fans are mad. :D keeper league!
  11. True, it's not absolute like ops. But it can be backed up w/ various observations... Jeter, Bernie and Paul O'Neill were "great clubhouse guys," the Red Sox have a fun clubhouse," etc., etc., etc.... Thus an opinion can be supported to some extent. If you want to give it a value, perhaps 5-10% of winning a title is based on "chemistry." Sometimes talent and luck can override this though. See the 72-74 A's for more.. exactly. opinion is a hell of a lot different than empirical evidence. you're certainly entitled to have an opinion that chemistry helps winning. but don't act as though it's fact. opinion & empirical evidence tie together. philosophy & ideology, which is essentially opinion, can be supported w/ empirical evidence. Example of an opinion/ideology ~ social security is good for society. empirical evidence shows that poverty rate went from 30some% in 30's to teens in the 60's. empirical evidence shows people live longer. etc., etc.. Of course, a competing ideology disagrees and shows other evidence such as people don't save as much cause they rely more on govt.. etc. etc.. and you don't have any 'empirical evidence' about chemistry. end of story.

  13. you're still ahead in crappy arguments though.
  14. give me a break. you know nothing more about corey's mindset now than you did at the end of the season. did you know that he's been working w/ joshua recently?
  15. there you go with your 'me against the world' stuff again... anyway, your argument was that chemistry is important to winning. for some reason, you cited to past ws winners and said that they had good chemistry. thus, chemistry is important in winning. your 'argument' is unbeatable because all anyone can say is 'the white sox didn't have good chemistry' or 'they didn't win because they had good chemistry' and you'll say 'prove it'...which, obviously, is impossible to do. of course, this ignores the fact that you can't prove that they did have good chemistry or that this is why they won. thus, your argument is beyond weak. in fact, i hesitate to call it an argument.
  16. Has he learned nothing from last off season? Chemistry is such overrated garbage. Tell the 05 White Sox, 04 Red Sox, 03 Marlins, 02 Angels and the 96-2000 Yankees that. why? do you know for a fact that they had great 'chemistry'? The empirical evidence suggests they got along well, which helped their performance as a team. um...sure. and this year's cub team supposedly got along great (or so empirical evidence suggests), and they sucked big time. They didn't have the talent to compliment the camaraderie. great self-sealing argument. (pst, ask him if he knows what "empirical" actually means) yes. i have an mpa. then you should realize how ridiculous your original argument was.
  17. that's a novel idea. i'm pretty sure that's what everyone tries to do. problem is, it's not that easy to pawn your crap onto other teams and know which guys are going to be cornerstones. trading the junk and keeping the studs is easier said than done.
  18. i don't care if morris pays the cubs to play in chicago. i hate him, and i would not want him on the team.
  19. how does the price go up if his trade demands go public? :-k
  20. i don't think i've ever seen anyone upset that jimmy anderson didn't make ANY rotation.
  21. i like weaver too, but he gave up a lot of hr's considering he pitched in la. if you trade williams and don't start rusch, i'd rather throw hill out there.
  22. i'm not quite sold on furcal. i'd rather go with nomar (til he gets hurt)/cedeno at ss. though if i had to chose between furcal and pierre, i'd take furcal. i'm on board for bradley, but i don't think he fits in w/ the boy scout troop that hendry seems intent on putting out there. and while baker came here with the image of being a guy that can soothe egos, i have complete faith that he and bradley would have 14 blowups during the course of one season. if you get giles for rf and furcal (or a healthy nomar) at ss, i think you can afford to throw corey out there for one last chance. his trade value sucks right now anyway. furcal and giles would be enough of an improvement over neifi and burnitz that i think you could just tell corey to play good defense and hit him 8th. i agree w/ raw, though...i just don't see giles coming here.
  23. is self-serving better?
