  2. yeah, the bunting critique is ridiculous. he's not juan pierre...get over it, people.
  3. whew on burnitz. get moving on walker, please. become a free agent, glendon. don't know how i feel about corey...
  4. uh-oh....guzman = patterson?? release him.
  5. i have no problem going after wagner/ryan. people seem suspect of wagner's age, but i'm more suspect of dempster's mediocre pre-2005 career. people seem sold on dempster, but iffy on wagner...i can't figure that out. i hope the cubs don't regret giving dempster three years...
  6. Q: Come on, it's been a week -- who was the celebrity who showed up at your Denver signing? --Kenny L., Boulder, CO SG: The one, the only ... Pratyush Buddiga! You might remember him as the winner of the 2002 Spelling Bee (as well as one of the stars of my running diary of that event) -- he was the kid who destroyed everybody, outlasted The Hyperventilator and even spelled the word "oubliette," the fancy word that defines Buffalo Bill's pit in "Silence of the Lambs." PUT THE LOTION IN THE BASKET! Anyway, he's a high school student and budding sportswriter now -- he showed up with his father and brother (the 2003 runner-up), and we even ended up taking a picture (as you can see on the right). Good guy. And you wonder why I'm keeping this book tour going.
  7. almost as good as jeter's catch. the only difference is that jeter's catch came in a more important game.
  8. why does that one guy (troy) start fake crying for a second before getting himself together? it's like he didn't want his friend to out-fan him with all the tears, so decided to try and muster some up...couldn't do it, so he just went back to talking semi-normal.
  9. gotta hand it to selig. he's really laid down the law on two major issues in baseball -- open roofs and steroids. oh, wait....
  10. i thought everyone wanted to play for the cardinals. :-k
  11. isn't anyone going to say anything about the suggestion of juan pierre playing rf for the cubs? ouch (once for the offense he'd 'provide' at that position) and ouch (once for the defense he'd 'provide' at that position).
  12. stros in five.
  13. patterson's gotta be the only guy hitting under .400 in that league. hurry...trade koronka NOW!
  14. after purging the roster of 'bad attitudes' after 2004, i can't see any way in which the cubs would add manny to their current roster of boy scouts. after all, removing all the bad seeds worked wonders this season.
  15. darn, i was hoping he'd gimp through another season in the cardinal outfield.
  16. i wonder if he'll be looking to close (or at least looking for closer money)...because he ain't gonna be closing in oakland. i'd be all for taking a shot at him.
  17. http://www.attheyard.com/PlayerJournals/article_694.shtml matt craig is a big fan of 'the o.c'.
  18. thank goodness they found a way to get in ONE more comment about how great the cardinal fans are. now if we could just get seven comments per world series game about eckstein and suicide squeeze bunts.
  19. at least the cardinals have that division title to hang on to. :D
  20. fox really broke the bank on the soundtrack for game 6. one more!
  21. finish these pansies off.
  22. just because everyone's boasting about their team in this thread... i won the league. :D
  23. i agree. if we need new managers, let's get 'em on board now.
