You guys are so obsessed with picking nits on winning teams that you are perfectly happy to accept the garbage the Cubs have purposefully put on the field. -
God forbid a pro sports team tries to win today. That's not true at all. Lots of people were making fun of the Dodgers for spending and not being good this year.

It's the entire experience, not just stadium. The tailgate options have been ruined for lots of people. At the outset, it cost $2B to make a bloated copy of the old stadium. The stadium is ginormous and seats are much more expensive, and worse. There is a giant section at midfield for all the executive types, and it's always empty. From outside it looks like a window shutter warehouse. There's nothing new or interesting about it, just more expensive.

He had 5 starts over three seasons before taking over, and he was not particularly impressive. He had previously been a relatively highly touted prospects, but the shine was off.

I was referring to Tampa. The Jets, and to a lesser extent the Giants, have struggled a bit with fan interest since the move to the new Meadowlands (WHICH IS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE STADIUM). But the Jets don't really struggle with interest all that much. The national coverage is somewhat justified for the Jets because you are looking at a team that was seemingly poised to overtake the Patriots, had significant postseason success with a bombastic head coach and first round QB, then fell apart. They were a pretty interesting story, and probably will be until Rex has his final meltdown and is fired.

Well, they have Khabibulin with NHL experience and they have Raanta in the pipeline. I Seriously, how does anybody come up with the nobody with experience and nobody in the pipeline theory? Because there isn't? How can you come up with there being the opposite? If they would have replaced Crawford it would have come from outside the organization as Drew points out. Because Khabibulin is the backup and Raanta is in the pipeline? Crawford wasn't exactly screaming for an opportunity when he took over the role.

That benefit also comes with the cost of the team struggling to maintain interest when they do suck.

So Rex Ryan isn't going to stick in NY for very long, but Schiano has to be on the outs as well. What a pathetic couple of teams that was yesterday.

No. They opened 06 up on the road at Green Bay. They shut them out and a bunch of people won free furniture. Yeah, they opened in GB and destroyed them, but people weren't that impressed because GB was terrible the season before. I was at game 2, the home opener versus Detroit, which was just a complete laugher of a game. -
Rey Malauga had a late hit on Jordan Mills following the 3rd down run. It was more of a late takedown, or tug.

One of those things was Simms discussing how they would have two plays called, and let the defensive alignment determine which one you run. Earlier the Bears left the middle wide open and allowed Dalton to sneak through for a first down. On this play Cincy was bunched in the middle and the announcer stated you run outside as they were going up to the line. Also, not sure why you'd want to settle for a FG in that situation. Going from down 4 to down 1 at that point isn't helpful. Cincy would have the ball and the lead, and you have to think a very good chance to at least score a FG and put the Bears in a situation where they need a 2-minute drive for a TD.

The Bears pass rush showed up late, but it was Paea and McClellin. Peppers has me concerned. I don't know how much it actually showed up late. It didn't seem to me that those late pressures were getting to the QB quickly, but rather having the time to get to him. There were plays that McClellin was pushed around.

At times he got abused. That horrible pass interference on the ridiculous lob ball that was up for grabs for anybody who decided to look was ugly. The one pick was fantastic work by him though. Tillman has to hold some sort of club record for leaving the game with an injury but returning during that game. That PI though was more of the result of a quick snap by Dalton, and the entire defense being unprepared. They pointed out during the game that Green was supposed to be double covered on that play, but Dalton quick snapped. Tillman saved a TD with the PI...at least, for the moment. They obviously scored immediately afterwards. It looked bad, but I don't think that's all on Tillman. Well not, it's not all on him, it never is really. Covering WR is one of the toughest thing to do in this game. And he was covering a fantastic WR.

Weird feeling after that game. The offense was ineffective for long stretches, but showed some promise. The dropsies were out again, and the defensive line didn't show up. Felt like there were a ton of missed tackles. Still think this team has a lot of volatility for what it may become this season. Oh, and listening to Francesa's NFL Sunday whatever it's called radio show I hard some ridiculous statements. Basically, Francesa thinks the Bears are an easy under pick for the 8 win bet. But he doesn't think they'll be just a 5 win team, just that they are a lock for 6 or 7 wins. He thinks Trestman is a poor fit in Chicago because the Bears should never have an offensive minded head coach and should always be defensive oriented, and tough. His reasons are the history of the Bears being good on defense, the mentality of the city, and weather. Apparently you can't throw and score lots of points in stadiums where the weather can be inclement. He also picked the Packers to run away with the division.

I have a pseudo-bachelor weekend coming up and will be ecstatic if I'm still asleep at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

Well, yeah, my wife's cousin lets her kids stay up past midnight and they'll sleep in until as late as noon somedays. There aren't many schools that adjust to kids with that sleep schedule though, and it's pretty important to have little ones on a decent schedule, so 99% of the people I know are in the same situation.
