  1. I think the focus has been on Crawford's deal.
  2. Parks is probably still talking about it because Kyle is hardly alone in the myopic cubs fans obsessed with where people rank Baez discussion
  3. Three special steps, that's all you need, three special steps and you'll succeed. Your special assignment is starting now and three special steps will show you how. Step One: Acquire some players! Step Two: Find some more players! Step Three: Get a few more players!
  4. Agreed. Maybe, maybe I could get excited for MNF if it was still the best matchup of the week, but why wait an extra day, and watch a late game between the Cardinals and Raiders or something. Nobody is forcing you to watch it and it's not like there's time for an additional nationally televised game on Sunday. Why wouldn't you want more games available to watch? What does "forcing you to watch" have to do with anything? If I want to watch the Bears and they are on MNF, I am forced to watch, otherwise I don't watch it at all, because it sucks.
  5. It's not just years, I just don't think he's anything special. I don't really care if he would have gotten more from somebody else, that is a terrible way to justify moves. Sports management types are notoriously foolish with money. Goalies come and go and aside from a very select few, do not impact the team all that much. The Blackhawks don't just have to keep Toews/Kane intact, they will need to bring in more talent from outside the organization, not to mention pay the next wave of talent when those raises are due.
  6. perfect Did not get that at first, well done.
  7. Could be telling the truth, or could be bitter that a large part of the Bears fanbase seemingly moved on from 54 after seeing Bostic. I think that's a pretty honest assessment of the situation.
  8. I'm concerned about the commitments being made to guys who aren't the difference makers on this team. Taken by itself this signing isn't disappointing, but giving Crawford and Hjalmarsson a combined $10+m per year is a little perplexing to me.
  9. Whaaa??? Something crazy is happening here.
  10. That would be a negative, considering the new rules for those contracts.
  11. MNF sucks, the Monday aspect of it, the Night aspect, and the people involved in broadcasting it.
  12. So this is all just a marketing decision? McDonough didn't like the backslide after the previous sell-off and he's mandating that they lock guys up this offseason instead of dealing them away?
  13. Really, is that true? Those two are the gift that keeps on giving for Toronto. Now they get to take postseason innings away from young pitchers. AA got thisclose to becoming an upper echelon GM, then shot his wad a year too early. Going to be tough for him now. no, i was just making a joke because i thought it was bush league that they sent down a 28 year old pitcher with a sub-2.00 ERA at AA so that he could pitch a playoff game for a single A club. This should not be ignored.
  14. So now Scott is gone and Adams is back? Odd
  15. in some of the country that's true At only some income levels. Organized baseball is cost-prohibitive compared to soccer and football. Wait what. Organized baseball is more costly than organized football? Are we talking flag football? Clearly soccer is the cheapest. But baseball is also pretty cheap for young kids. Football with pads sure isn't cheap, but neither is baseball. You can play a pick-up game of football with one football. Baseball requires a glove for each kid, plus a bat and balls.
  16. And I don't see why he'd be expected to just take over a role he was given at the beginning of camp, when he's on a 1-year deal, has only played like 5 games in 2 years, hasn't practiced in 4 weeks, and is competing with a high draft pick who can potentially stay in that role for the next 10 years. Same reason why McClellin is listed as co-starter with Wootton at DE. How is that the same reason? McClellin isn't a rookie, and he wasn't a mid-2nd round pick. 50 overall is hardly a time where you assume the guy will start from day one, especially at a position like MLB. I think it's quite likely that the coaching staff is not comfortable starting the rookie from the first game and are anxious to find an opportunity to insert a veteran into that slot, even if there is little expectation that Williams starts 16 games there.
  17. Well, they were never in a situation where jettisoning him was an option, or even close to a necessity. But there was very little point in giving him this extension at this time.
  18. OK, maybe he's not just as good as Soriano. Will the universe ever stop taking from you kyle?
  19. Mark May didn't start growing up until he got out of college.
  20. in some of the country that's true
  21. Kids have football now? Now? Unless you grew up in NYC prior to the 60's football has been at the forefront for a very long time. Most probably start playing baseball at a younger age, but America's youth has been playing football, and futbol, in very large numbers for a very long time.
  22. Offseason is ovah, lets get crackin' on that regular season.
