  1. Well, brandon kind of makes it sound like he was mindlessly tweeting about it, but there's a reason.
  2. That's kind of a ridiculous assumption. His next employer doesn't get to draft him.
  3. Yeah, they play split squads and also other teams. The games are very informal - one year, to work on his base stealing, Felix Pie pinch ran for any Cub who got to first with second base empty. Split squads might be tough for a team with 2 outfielders.
  4. . Synonym only means it has a similar meaning.
  5. What does the Instructional League do? I remember coaches pitched underhand to their own team when I was in them and you had a little pitcher next to him which was basically where the ball ended up to make everybody stop. But I assume this is different. Do they play other teams?
  6. I would not be surprised if he had aspirations to play in LA or NY. Whole new crop of females.
  7. Yeah, not sure why the comparison is Dallas Green era.
  8. Why is he STILL talking? Because Fox pays him money to. Seriously, what kind of question is that?
  9. Let's say Kane decided he wanted to move on. Where would he have the chance to a) win the cup basically every season, b) play in a city as good as Chicago and c) play in a system that maximizes his talent? I'm not saying there isn't one but that's what he'd be leaving if he took more money. Of course if they win the cup this year he may just want to get paid and not care about anything else A Buffalo native and Sabres fan I know is convinced that Kane will end his career playing there. Whether that is 10 years from now or 2, is up for debate. The way things stand now, these guys have been underpaid. I'm guessing they expect to be paid like top 5-10 guys in the league. They see how Pittsburgh fit in Crosby and Malkin. They see that other guys are getting paid. They've won 2 Cups and it is entirely reasonable for them to play hardball in negotiations. They are already Chicago legends. There's little to be gained by playing nice.
  10. Sure, I was just responding to the article's mention of "Chicago-influenced beers". It's silly. Are you saying Goose Island is not a Chicago influenced beer?
  11. ...Sullivan's injury was not to the head That's my point, if it would've been at the head Suh would've likely been suspended. Short-term leg injuries are more damaging on a career than head injuries. You ask most players and they rather get hit in the head than at the knees. There's a double standard b/c the NFL doesn't like the negative attention towards the head. You can't expect a detroit fan to comprehend such a point.
  12. Maybe meaningless, but going along with a weird quote the other day from Peppers I don't like to see this stuff. Well, its not like this is pro wrestling. Peppers isnt going to hit Trestman with a chair in a shocking heel turn because he doesnt like him. I'm not concerned about him beating up Trestman, but rather his relationship with the DC. Peppers was a no show in game 1. That happens from time to time but I'd hope he could overcome that.
  13. Alright, calm down. It is a Chicago beer brand. It's readily available throughout NY and NJ and for that I am thankful, because it is good and I enjoy it. There are better choices that are actually still made in Chicago. It is unrealistic to expect them to choose to partner with the most purely Chicago microbrew, whatever the hell you decide that is. It is a business, and they need to maximize revenue.
  14. Maybe meaningless, but going along with a weird quote the other day from Peppers I don't like to see this stuff. Apparently he was sick. What was it he said the other day about his role in the defense? It seemed similar to Marshall's comments.

  16. SB Nation Soccer ‏@SBNationSoccer 8m Mexico has hired former Monterrey boss Victor Manuel Vucetich as their new coach. http://sbn.to/14OUpwJ Retweeted by Stars and Stripes FC
  17. depends whether they were mocking him because they thought he wasn't ready or because they were burning a full year of team control on a team that everybody knew was going to be terrible. I actually wasn't talking about anyone here; I hadn't remembered anyone here made a comment about it. But I don't know that team control matters to the marlins. If Loria wants to spend a billion dollars to try to win the WS one year, he will and he'll pay Fernandez to be on that team. If he doesn't, he'll ship the guy out with everyone else. I don't think he's losing a ton of sleep over burning a year on a guy that shaved more than a half point off his 2.74 ERA after the ASG. Egads. His trade value will now be significantly higher than if he'd spent the year owning AA. So I read last night about some Fernandez guy hitting his first homerun and pissing people off, then saw your post about how awesome he is, which did not compute. It took me until this post to realize this was a pitcher.
  18. They sell 312 in the 212, 201, 856 and 609 area codes. I noticed I didn't like it as much this summer as last summer, but that's typical of my tastes in beer.
  19. Yes. I think so as well. Guys are skating around, trying to put the puck in the net while the opposition is trying to prevent that and move it in the other direction. I think I'd like to see them throw on another minute or so of OT as well.
  20. It certainly needs work. However, it is young and talented enough to improve, mostly from Castro, Rizzo and Shark. One of these things, is not like the other... And that thing is Samardzija. He is not young, not really close. He turns 29 this offseason. He may not have a ton of mileage on his arm, but I don't think you can count on much improvement going forward.

  22. HUH????? Yuengling is a PA beer adored by ignorant PA residents and expats but it is terrible.
  23. Apparently Cutler is left-handed now. Egads that's a terrible commercial. The Patriots have Patton Oswalt and some little league player rushing the passer.
