  1. And why would he be a horrible choice for manager? Keep in mind, this is the guy who started this thread. I'm not really sure why you are even commenting here. You didn't want Sveum fired and weren't big on Girardi. Do you want Acta or are you just going to make more smartass comments? If you didn't want Sveum fired you can't comment on this thread?
  2. That's crazy to me. He could not win another game this year and still be way over .500 with 4 playoff appearances. This is the first bad year. I'm not sure about the storyline around him, but that sort of quick hook would seem odd.
  3. There is a little bit of that in there, but the real Yankee way is to just pay more than the next guy to get the deal done. They aren't afraid of their guys speaking with others, because they believe in the end they want to be with the Yankees. They've had all sorts of guys sit and wait on offers. It doesn't bother them.
  4. I have the opposite interpretation. He is currently under contract, but the longer he takes to accept the extension, the less likely he is to accept it. He can't just say, no, then sign with the Cubs. He's under contract. He's waiting for a reason.
  5. Puig is considered a prospect still?
  6. @CEdwsrdsSBS = CJ Edwards Hope CJ celebrates strikeouts like Hanks celebrated interceptions. He'll suffer whiplash after 7 innings.
  7. I don't understand this sentence. What are the olypics?
  8. I'm not even sure they want that anymore, but they don't have another option ready to take over.
  9. Do you mean having the Rays in Tampa, or pricing the tickets where they are priced?
  10. Now? You wanted something else before? I wouldn't have minded seeing him complete the no hitter. There is still a game 5 for the Pirates to win. You haven't done anything right today, have you?
  11. don't run you silly bastards
  12. Stupid people make that comparison. If you can't see the difference, you are a douchenozzle. It just so happens that every single Redskins fan to ever live is also a douchenozzle.

  14. Why do you think it is a matter of fans who want to sit on their hands? I was told to sit down by a group of pessimistic fans when I stood to cheer a late Fukudome HR. And the stadium barely made a peep. If you're going to cry every time something bad happens, you're better off not attending. Again, you are off base if you think this is an "every time something bad happens" thing. This was a fairly unique circumstance here.

  16. It kind of is right now. Next year, if they were in the same situation as Pittsburgh is right now, I'm sure it would be quite lively. It was throughout the 08 playoffs. Expectations were higher, but still, left a bad taste in my mouth. "Throughout the 08 playoffs" was 2 days. They led for 2 innings then fell apart. This came on the heals, of course, of the 1 game they played in Wrigley Field during the 2007 playoffs, which was played with the team down 2 - 0 in the series already and a 2-0 deficit in the first inning. Let's stop pretending Wrigley Field can't get raucous. With 5 increasingly depressing seasons since the last time they were in the playoffs, when they are fortunate enough to make it back, Wrigley Field will be quite lively.

  18. I have no idea and it sounds stupid but maybe because he'd rather have his best pitcher pitching at home, in a pitcher's park at night (where pitchers tend to fare better at Dodger Stadium)? I know my explanation doesn't make sense, I was just trying to think of some way that it would even begin to be justified. If the Pirates wrap up the other NLDS today, and the Dodgers win tonight, Kershaw wouldn't be available on regular rest until probably game 3, meaning he'd start game 3 and 7 instead of 1, 4 and 7. Yeah doesn't make sense. The NLCS starts on Friday no matter what happens today, correct? That is how it is listed on the site and that is how it has been done in recent years. They have specific days they want games on the air. If he pitches today, that leaves him available on short rest for Game 1, or regular rest for Game 2, Saturday. If they lose tonight and he does not pitch, then he absolutely will pitch in game 5, which would be on an extra day's rest. And then he would not be available until game 3 of NLCS.
  19. Probably so he can theoretically pitch prior to game 3 in the NLCS. Obviously he would pitch game 5 if necessary, then he'd be out for game 1 and 2.
  20. Jacksonville Jaguars ‏@jaguars 3h Stay classy, Denver. RT @DenverBroncos: The #Broncos' 51 points in yesterday's win are as many points as the Jaguars have scored all season.
  21. Am I missing something or are you basing this off of the news that the Cubs are talking to other people?
  22. All this has to take into account the defense is starting from a very high level, while the offense is starting from a very low level. The defense doesn't suck, but it has fallen far from where it once was. Briggs isn't awful, but he isn't the star he once was. Peppers is nearly as useless as McClellin. But I wasn't that impressed with what Brees did yesterday. That lazy duck he threw down the left sideline that hung up forever should never have been completed. He had forever to make his passes and still had to rely on plenty of checkdowns. I just didn't see a lot of "wow what a throw by Brees" moments yesterday. It was just a matter of dropping back and having his choice of receiver, eventually.
  23. Anywaysssssssssssss, I really want to see a blowout this Thursday. Kill them early, let me go to bed.
