    Please definitively interpret it for me then. I am not as smart as you. Why/how wouldn't there be multiple options? If there aren't multiple options, why wouldn't it still be Bears/Packers if it would be Bears/Packers if there were multiple options? Oh my god you are really trying to prove that you were confused by that simple statement?

It seems pretty clear what my question means, especially after I expanded on it with my second question. It's an odd phrasing, at the very least. Why not just say "if the Bears/Packers game has playoff implications?" Because his statement very easy to interpret at first glance.

    Do we have to spend another week of sulley whining about McCown getting slighted? The Bears have a pretty big game this weekend. They are road dogs in a stadium where the home team started really poorly this year, but they have won three straight at home now.

    We've said national media gives him more crap than the local media and Dallas fans. Not that I'm in Dallas, but I'm not in Chicago either and it's pretty obvious to me that Cutler gets it worse than Romo. I can't imagine how someone can say this with a straight face. They are both unfairly criticized, but to say cutler gets it worse than Romo is hysterical. Feels to me that most NFL fans would say Cutler takes more heat. People really hate him, while Romo isn't treated like that at all.

    But the point is that he never gets blamed for a team that continually underperforms overall. While most other QB's are lightning rods for criticism if the team underperforms. Actual stats be damned. Tony Romo doesn't get unfair criticism? What world are you guys living in? Romo is up there with Cutler and Eli in terms of the Mt. Rushmore of dudes who invoke a [expletive] every time they screw up. Nationally, but not by the home market. The national response to Romo struggles does not even come close to approaching Cutler hate.

    It boils down to winning a super bowl or not. If you don't win a super bowl, you are going to take heat locally and nationally. The details may be different for each guy and how the haters justify their hate, but if you win that goes away (unless you are Eli and turn into Mark Sanchez).

    I don't see the oversight. It's not like that $1 guaranteed the Bears could keep him next season. It only meant they could negotiate now. If McCown played well enough with the Bears to earn big money next year, he wasn't going to take a discount to stay. And if some team wants to pay big money to McCown at this stage in his career, let them. Sure, but why wouldn't they spend the $1 extra to be able to negotiate now? Is there a downside? If there's not (I don't know all that much about the NFL cap) then it is definitely an oversight because no matter how unlikely any of this was, $1 is one [expletive] dollar. Maybe the agent didn't want the dollar to prevent his client from getting sentimental and insisting on a deal without the benefit of the open market? However it plays out, I don't care. It's not a story. Jay Cutler is going to get a raise to come back next year, which takes away the amount of money available to spend on a veteran backup.

    McCown played a large role in that loss.

    He's been a good backup QB, I'm glad the Bears have him, I'm impressed with the run he's had, but I want the starter back in there because I think the starter is better in the long run. Not really "minimizing" him all that much there. I'm not necessarily saying that you are, I just don't like to see the other stuff talking about him as some sort of game manager when what he did was nothing short of heroic. There was nothing heroic about the dump he took in Minnesota.

    I take issue with this part. He did have a good debut. His production was fine. The numbers behind that production strongly indicate he will not be able to maintain the production going forward. But he could start the year hot, and his tools could make it look like a hot start means more than one might think. He's probably going to look pretty bad out there. But that doesn't mean he didn't produce in 2013.
