  1. Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 19m Cubs pick catcher Charles Cutler from Buccos' minor league roster, balt. Takes OF Julio Borbon Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 11m Cubs minor league pitcher AJ Morris to pittsburgh
  2. Because they don't actually have any of their own money.
  3. lol spelling is not a strong suit, get over it. I assumed it was some sort of auto-correct situation, but also thought it was weird that you had two Sabins and one Saban in a three sentence post.
  4. Picking against the Bears every week would have made you a lot of money so far this season.
  5. It sounds like really open to interpretation according to the early word on it. Can an infielder still drop his knee in front of a base while fielding a throw. Can the catcher still field a throw in front of the plate but leave his leg draped in the baseline? If the catcher is blocking the basepath and you try to slide, then what? Catcher gets fined, but your team gets an out because you wouldn't bowl him over? Same in reverse? You start with banning the actually collision, which is always instigated by the runner, but then you add some opportunity to call interference if a catcher blocks entire path or something. Of course, umps won't be able to not screw up.
  6. They probably won't miss knock off Sabin balls.
  7. You really forced that one in there.
  8. It'd certainly up the intimidation factor. And that's without even mentioning their enormous ball. Would you really want to be perceived as such a greedy pig?
  9. I hold out hope he can be useful but I would be blown away shocked if Lake was a 5 WAR player.
  10. A touch pricey for me considering the circumstances, but that shouldn't make too much difference to the Mets. Have they reimbursed Madoff already?
  11. Really narrowed it down there.
  12. Because of pain? Wimp.
  13. I get the desire to list everything they've Fd up but, the radio booth? I honestly hope your hope never comes true because that is going to lead to a good decade or more of continued crappiness.
  14. he got mercilessly ridiculed for it for a while Oh my.
  15. One of these things, is not like the other.
  16. Ah, ok. I didn't know that wasn't allowed. You're right, it is basically an injury clause. Makes sense that'd be verboten. I don't even see it as being all that necessary or useful. It's not like he's always missing lots of time. He's played in 15 or 16 games in almost every season of his career. And the full contract is already not guaranteed. He's gotten a knock from the meatball fans for being injury prone though. My only point in mentioning it would be that it could ease those concerns. I'm surrounded by anti-Cutler types at work...it's tiring. I don't think easing the concerns of that type of person is all that useful.

  18. That is an interesting destination for a hitter taking a one year deal.
  19. Things like workout bonuses happen all the time. I'm not so sure games played bonuses exist.
  20. You never know with NFL contracts but I would think there's room to give enough guaranteed money to make $16-18m an option.
  21. Odd phrasing there. Are they saying he will look for $20m if they franchise him, but less if they don't? I'm still thinking that a sub $20m/per deal is possible and likely.
