  1. I've seen people attempt to rank managers in that manner.
  2. If somebody thinks that pythag more accurately reflects how this team has played than the actual record then I just don't understand the reasoning. They've had a couple big run scoring games. They seemingly come out of nowhere and are surrounded by 0/1 run outputs. This team sucks at hitting. They cannot get on base. They have a handful of marginally powerful hitters, but by and large those players have huge flaws in their individual games that leaves them as all or nothing types or somebody who only occasionally flashes signs of being a dangerous bat. There are backup quality players all over the field. They have 2 legit longterm everyday players and then a collection ranging from garbage to passable. The pitching staff has been pretty good, but they are bottom half of the league in striking people out and giving up walks, which is a weakness that probably leaves them susceptible to giving up more than they "should". Runs scored versus runs allowed may theoretically begin to give you an idea of how well teams have played at this point of the season, but it can still easily be skewed by 2-3 games of unusually high scoring. This is a very bad team. Very bad teams cannot use the excuse of bad luck.
  3. Stop with the captain [expletive] The Mets gave him [expletive] subway tile, I hope some drunk pisses on it and a homeless takes a [expletive] on it.
  4. I didn't hear that bit, but the part about quarterbacks was the most interesting to me. I think it was every QB that's arrived in the last 8 years and made 40+ starts in the NFL was drafted in the top 3 rounds. He said something prior to the draft that drafting a quarterback was pointless because late picks don't wind up doing anything in the league. And all the talk about the new guy is that he can be a backup. So, it seems a little weird that they appear to have purposefully spent that draft pick on a guy they believe will always just be a backup.
  5. Yeah, but the big difference there being that Ochocinco was already a veteran rather than some fringey draftee just out of college trying to make it in the league. It also wasn't a show about him trying to make the team, right?
  6. nothing Earth shattering. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=23546 Why is it considered hyperbole at all that Bryant could justifiably be in the majors before Javy? Javy is ahead of him in line, but not far ahead. The dominant college bat types tend to move very quickly, and Javy has some flaws that could delay his promotion for quite a while.
  7. Maybe they can get him to bang Beth Murphy and distract her from the reconstruction debate.
  8. If that doesn't scream hipster I'm a monkey's uncle. The term Hipster gets thrown around too much -- that picture is an insult to hipsters. That's a straight douche. A scarf is a scarf is a scarf. Wearing one unnecessarily is a signature hipster douchebag move.
  9. But willingly participating in reality television is a lifestyle choice that should be shunned.
  10. That ranking is [expletive] ridiculous. Forte was one of the 10 best players in the NFL last season. what in the ever loving eff?
  11. Doesn't apply to Hockey Nope, it's just backstabbing passive aggressiveness Hockey draws out the reality behind those sneaky Minnesota smiles. Anything past the first introduction tends to expose that.

  13. Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 4m Samardzija Friday, no word on Yankees series Tues-Wed; Cubs-STL rescheduled for Aug. 30 split DH
  14. I think it would look ok without the ugly red banner below it. Is that changing to green?
  15. is he the aggressive hugger?
  16. I'm not even interested in "major league ready" as a quality to look for. If you are trading away your best players, just get the best players you can get back.
  17. http://www.totalprosports.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/lightning-gateway-arch-st.-louis-595x341.jpg This one has been postponed. http://mashable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Dr.-Who.gif http://blogs.ubc.ca/megfergo/files/2014/03/rain-on-john-watson.gif http://i.imgur.com/h3nBbxL.gif
  18. I have to imagine the only reason would be he is sick of the travel because I cannot imagine that would be more lucrative than his current gig. That can't be a great path to a front office, can it?
  19. In other words, no matter what, even if the Cubs make the playoffs every year after this year, Kyle is going to keep his act up until *at least* 2018. If there's anything that Kyle has been consistent about, it's changing his mind pretty easily. As soon as they're good he'll be all Blackhawks like with them. Oh don't pretend you weren't trying to inject some of the good stuff there buddy.
  20. Do you even pay attention to anything that is discussed. That isn't what happened at all. The apologists came in and made it about that but that is not what this was about at all.
