  1. Between ESPN, ESPN+, and the Turner channels, not to mention all the NY stations when they played devils, rangers and islanders, the hawks were on TV for me a ton last year.
  2. There’s a slate of 3 games on ESPN and ESPN+ today, starting at 4:30 eastern through the 10 pm eastern slot. Florida and Boston should be flying out of Miami immediately after their games. Thursday night has 9 games on the docket including the home opener of first place New Jersey after they stomped Buffalo in Prague.
  3. Do people refer to things on Wikipedia as official?
  4. They are taking a page out of the pwhl playbooks and not rushing into a new branding campaign in only a couple months since the sale/move took place. They will play a season as UHC and then launch their new logo and name next offseason.
  5. Philips…, feed my fish? Not too much
  6. What happened on the drive where Williams got to the goal line but didn’t convert TD in the third? SiriusXM signal went out for about 5 minutes then
  7. Justin fields played well and did a lot of good things chris collinsworth - Wayne Gretzky —- Michael Scott
  8. Fields never gets that call as a bear
  9. I’d like to see the Steelers pull off an ugly win to keep fields starting and knock down a potential nfc wild card rival
  10. If you insist on that you have to switch back to 2 divisions. But you don’t have to do that. One and done puts greater emphasis on regular season. If you don’t want to win your division and be eliminated in one game, then win more regular season games. it rewards greatness while maintaining the possibility for more teams to stay in the race.
  11. One and done is was and always will be the best option for wild card entrants
  12. The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has assigned forward Frank Nazar, along with defensemen Louis Crevier and Kevin Korchinski to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. The team has also assigned forward AJ Spellacy to the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. The regular season is 6 days away and some of the biggest roster questions have been answered, with Nazar heading down to AHL with Korchinski and Spellacy returning to junior. Reichel is still around but appears to be a man without a spot, who may be moved in a change of scenery situation. the athletic’s projection sees a real step forward but remaining a really bad team. *Do not expect there to be a postseason thread The problem with scorched earth rebuilds is that it takes time for that earth to become fertile ground again. Even massive steps can still have a franchise far away from competitiveness. That’s exactly where Chicago lands with an expected 25-point improvement … that still has the Blackhawks almost 20 points out of a playoff spot in the West. All that money spent in free agency isn’t enough to completely turn this team around, leaving it very likely that the Blackhawks will once again be a bottom-five outfit. They landed there in 54 percent of simulations.
  13. I wouldn’t be completely surprised. Moore vocally supported Fields before they dumped him. Maybe that was playing the good teammate or maybe that was real. If it was real, and now he has to break in a new QB who clearly played terribly in the first couple games. It’s entirely possible he’s annoyed. But it seems more likely to me that the two guys just need to get on same page and they’ll be fine eventually.
  14. Chicago is a 3.5 point favorite at home against the lowly Panthers, who are trying to avoid picking 1st next April with the Red Rocket at the helm. Dalton came back to earth a little bit after coming out the gates red hot. He’s still the type of guy that has given Eberflus’s Bears defense trouble, but maybe Chicago has improved enough to be able to stop the mediocre competent veteran QB this year. Carolina is the type of defense to give Williams an opportunity to produce for a full game, and hopefully he capitalizes on it. The offense has gone from one decent drive to one good quarter to one good half and now maybe they can put together a complete game. They should be able to run the ball which hopefully opens up the passing game. A win keeps them in playoff contention this season and quiets the boo birds for a month, before they return to Soldier Field again. By then the season will probably look a lot different.
  15. What a weird comparison. One inherited wealth, failed miserably repeatedly and was a national punchline for decades until a bunch of racist dickbags identified with his ignorance. The other was an accomplished athlete that threw it all away then spent decades as a national punchline.
  16. The bears radio guys are really bad.
  17. If we should expect PCA and Amaya to be bad hitters (#1) then I’m not quite sure how we can say the starting lineup is very good (#3). I think it’s more accurate to describe the starting lineup as average to above with very limited upside. And the same injury concerns about the rotation apply to this aging lineup, as most of the guys have spent time on the IL with regularity.
  18. It was a pretty enjoyable season for me although that has nothing to do with the cubs, just had a generally pleasant March - September with family and friends.
  19. Existential despair won’t return if they lose a game in a couple weeks IF they win this one and look good doing so. The dread has been about winning ugly and losing uglier with no signs of life until the end of a bad loss. if they beat the Rams and Panthers, and look good offensively, then a loss to Jacksonville in London would be hugely disappointing from a 2024 season perspective but not a state of the franchise mindset.
  20. Chicago managed 1 quarter of respectable offense in their first three games, finally discovering Kmet’s usefulness and Odunze’s ability. They are one of the worst passing teams in the again, bottom of completion %, yds/att, TD/Int and sacks. They are okay on short distance yardage and abysmal at long throws, with the exception of completed but wholly unsuccessful Hail Mary attempt. They also can’t run the ball for horsefeathers. All of that is fine in the long term development of Caleb Williams but not good for the team’s chances to compete in the near term. And with a terrible coaching staff regularly making bad decisions this team could be in for a really disappointing season that should result in a house cleaning (but likely won’t). The defense is good but can’t win games on its own when not playing basement dwellers. Hopefully the offense can build on its 4th quarter success last week and pull off a win against a rams team coming off an upset win. If they lose the second of back to back very winnable games (bears -2.5) the Carolina game next week suddenly becomes must win. 1-4 with the back half of this schedule coming up would be a tall task.
  21. One man’s reality is a Pollyanna’s negativity
  22. It’s really weird to me that people are pretending 360 yards and 2 touchdowns didnt include 3 turnovers a bunch of bad throws and a fluke Hail Mary reception off a tip that meant nothing. Williams was bad for three quarters. The offense is trash. But at least they remembered Kmet plays on this team. They’ve got a long way to go to be able to competed with even mediocre teams, let alone bad ones like Indy.
  23. Harrison Butker missed far right, I’m shocked
