  1. The broncos haven’t exactly been blessed with an amazing ownership situation
  2. Flus’s D is weak kind of funny how many people lauded this group in the offseason with 1 pass rusher and zero impact interior lineman
  3. What a poorly coached team
  4. Been a sooner fan my whole life
  5. There is one reason, if the QB likes him. That would be a spiteful cut, not a football one. I’d rather not antagonize the qb.
  6. At least my kids team beat a lousy Flyers team today
  7. Snow games are fun and all but the biggest news so far this week is Daniel Jones’ strange mea culpa press conference in conjunction with his salary cap protecting benching (avoiding injury guarantees) and then today he’s been granted his release after requesting it from John Mara. Now he’s free to join any team. Jones stinks, but he’s been an NFL starter which basically guarantees he’s better than most backups. Is he going to Dallas? Will Miami show interest for Tua brain insurance? Hea probably best served as a good QBs backup for a year or two. Maybe go to a team that has succeeded in reclamation projects, backing up Baker, Goff, Darnold. Anyway, just wanted an excuse to start the proper week numbered thread
  8. The point going in was to give those young kids more time in AHL. I think it’s justifiable. Bertuzzi is probably the only vet of consequence taking up roster and cap space and providing nothing. He’ll probably get better but you can’t expect a ton. they were going to lose a ton this year regardless. They’ve looked more competent despite all the losing. It can’t hurt to add a top three pick next summer. But bedard has to be better this year and will be next season. if not, those extension talks will be interesting
  9. If we don’t see anything significant from bedard for several years you will not see him with the Blackhawks
  10. #week12
  11. That empty netter by Foligno late is the type of shot I think is available more often than teams attempt with lackadaisical passing in the D zone by the team with 6 attackers
  12. Jed’s been here for over a decade the lack of contention under his watch is his problem, not an excuse to pretend he’s only been working for 2 years
  13. And then lo and behold they went into the next season with virtually the same 83 win caliber team it’s okay to flip out and assume the worst with Jed’s cubs. Jed is a known entity and we know he won’t work to improve the team. He’ll attempt to tweak on the margins but won’t make them better until he stumbles upon a lighting in the bottle acquisition for an emerging superstar from within.
  14. Taking on somebody else’s overpaid player is defeating the purpose and would mean that yes, it is that hard to trade Bellinger
  15. Seth Jones to miss 4 weeks. and in less impactful news, Athanasiou also missing 4-6 weeks in Rockford.
  16. Spotrac says he’s already signed a 1-year deal with cubs. That seems odd from a timing standpoint. Did they just want to avoid arbitration or is this bad info?
  17. Non winning hockey coaches do not last. Collitan lasted 12 games into his third season. Savard barely made it past year one. The last guy to make it through three consecutive losing seasons did it when Hitler* was still alive. Richardson was set up to fail as a coach and nobody expected much this season. But most expected better. NHL coaches take the fall regularly, fair or not. It’s probably not fair and he probably doesn’t deserve to be fired. But history suggests the Blackhawks cannot keep playing at this (lack of) pace and keep the head coach employed. And the current throw anything against the wall strategery and non-communication with veterans can be turning people off. Davidson may not be beholden to NHL history, but he’s going to start feeling pressure to make changes. *original version
  18. The bruins fired Jim Montgomery after a slow start to the season. The Bruins currently occupy the 2nd wild card sport in the east. Pittsburgh and Detroit also off to slow starts and may be canning their head coaches. Will be interesting to see how many out last Richardson.
  19. No, but they score more than the bears, give up less and have a professional NFL head coach.
  20. Yes. That is what happens when you don’t score
  21. Chicago is a 3.5 point home dog vs the second place Vikings
  22. William H Eberflus as…, The Cooler
