  1. It’s been clear for a while because we can see how Eberflus presents himself publicly and how the team has quit on them
  2. 1: things did not fall apart for Lovie Smith. He won 11, 8 and 10 games in years 7/8/9. 2: Eberflus isn’t really soft spoken. If anything he talks too much. He doesn’t say anything meaningful but he uses a lot of words in an energetic manner. It comes off as disingenuous
  3. He started the season as a healthy scratch but has worked his way back into the lineup, working up from 4C to playing on the top line at times. He’s played reasonably well and has a 2 year contract so it’s a pretty good assumption to have him in future plans. Nothing guaranteed (except his money) of course
  4. Seems obvious Nate Davis was one of these people. He’s been a loaf since day one but the team has been incredibly forgiving of him the entire time.
  5. What notes is a QB going to take from Matt Eberflus?
  6. I think the vast majority of young players have idolized guys 5-10 years older than themselves
  7. Nate Davis sleeps with the fishes. i need to keep making demands, since they’re seemingly listening to me this week.
  8. Candidates to be that X mentioned above
  9. He cleared waivers and is headed to Rockford. the athletic ran a “what will the 25/26 roster look like” article and long story short, they project a lot of returning and/or promoted players already in the organization, plus one big external option.
  10. Nagy’s bears were competent. They were over .500 at least. They don’t bottom out until Poles and Eberflus tanked them on purpose.
  11. You think Caleb went wrong way or called it wrong? The entire line ran it as a play meant to go into short side with one receiver option. I’m inclined to believe that was the play call.
  12. If everything played out the same but he didn’t sign an extension, he would have demanded a trade this year. He wasn’t keen on playing out that deal looking for the last large payout of his life based on what a rookie qb could do for him.
  13. NFL players hold out all the time. Being under contract for two more years at an incredibly low number is meaningless. He was never going to finish out that contract
  14. Keenan and Caleb bonding at his pro day probably didn’t help.
  15. That doesn’t really speak volumes about anything. These kinds of moves get leaked before announced. That’s just the way the world works. what speaks volumes to me is that it took until Tuesday after Eberflus had a disastrous Monday trying to hem and haw with media it’s the indecisiveness and lack of leadership
  16. I disagree that winning is down the list. They are absolutely driven to win. They are not driven to maximize profit, and get criticized in many “business of sport” stories about their lack of focus on increasing revenue at every turn, in comparison to a Jerry Jones type. But what they want is to win in a specific manner, with quiet class and stability. This organization wants to be the Steelers. They desperately want to hire one coach and have that man in place for 30 years. Make the playoffs every year. Get to a Super Bowl every decade. The problem is they absolutely suck at that job.
  17. poles going to Warren for advice on what to do next
  18. Athanasiou reportedly places on waivers, which would open up an NHL roster spot for somebody
  19. The more time players spend with Waldron and Eberflus the more they realize how incompetent and full of horsefeathers they are, respectively. Week 1 was awful. They didn’t recover until they played a few games and players confronted the staff. They’ve had multiple instances now when veterans felt comfortable publicly criticizing the coaching. They are lost.
  20. The story is he showed up complaining of back pain. This was in a game where offensive line depth was an issue. It doesn’t matter if it’s the back pain was real or not. The guy has no future here. You can’t sell hustle and heart to the rest of the team when this non-participant just sits on his guaranteed contract go find a street free agent and pay him his injury settlement
  21. I’d like to see Nate Davis cut today. Doesn’t matter that line depth is a problem. He is not available anyway. Davis has been an awful addition and allowing his lack of participation to go on completely flies in the face of Eberflus’s hustle and effort mandate. Davis is the epitome of a loaf.
  22. Offensive infrastructure is a real thing. The bears don’t have one. Defensive head coaches can win with either HOF caliber and/or established veteran QB or a depth of connections in the coaching community to hire quality young offensive minds. A first time head coach from the defensive side of the ball and a history of coaching mediocre nfl teams was not the right hire for a team looking to turn around the offensive.
