  1. Athanasiou reportedly places on waivers, which would open up an NHL roster spot for somebody
  2. The more time players spend with Waldron and Eberflus the more they realize how incompetent and full of horsefeathers they are, respectively. Week 1 was awful. They didn’t recover until they played a few games and players confronted the staff. They’ve had multiple instances now when veterans felt comfortable publicly criticizing the coaching. They are lost.
  3. The story is he showed up complaining of back pain. This was in a game where offensive line depth was an issue. It doesn’t matter if it’s the back pain was real or not. The guy has no future here. You can’t sell hustle and heart to the rest of the team when this non-participant just sits on his guaranteed contract go find a street free agent and pay him his injury settlement
  4. I’d like to see Nate Davis cut today. Doesn’t matter that line depth is a problem. He is not available anyway. Davis has been an awful addition and allowing his lack of participation to go on completely flies in the face of Eberflus’s hustle and effort mandate. Davis is the epitome of a loaf.
  5. Offensive infrastructure is a real thing. The bears don’t have one. Defensive head coaches can win with either HOF caliber and/or established veteran QB or a depth of connections in the coaching community to hire quality young offensive minds. A first time head coach from the defensive side of the ball and a history of coaching mediocre nfl teams was not the right hire for a team looking to turn around the offensive.
  6. Death comes for us all. After the last couple game thread starters horsefeathers the bed by jumping in the way of a winning streak, I’m back to set things right. No, the bears aren’t going to win. But it’s time to head to the mattresses. These things happen every 5 or 10 years, it helps to get rid of the bad blood.
  7. There’s really nothing better for a coach on a bad team that is under contract to get fired. It’s doing him a favor getting paid to not work and be free to seek other opportunities. The agents aren’t going to step in and prevent that from happening.
  8. I’m not unconcerned
  9. In the grand scheme of things it is good that a gm that blatantly tanked multiple seasons and sabotaged a young qbs career is having it all blow up in his face
  10. How do you not bring down the qb?
  11. Way more conservative than arrogant. It was an acknowledgment that they are going to punt early and often.
  12. But seriously why do you keep posting in last weeks thread?
  13. Why is this a thing?
  14. The patriots are an awful football team
  15. There’s risks of course, but it’s completely justifiable to make that move.
  16. Quality management goes against ownership’s wishes constantly in the world of business and sports because owners by and large are oblivious to operational needs. And the good ones know that fact.
  17. The play call isn’t made with assumption of single coverage on Chase. If there was single coverage on Chase it’s on the veteran pro bowl qb to recognize that matchup. it’s not like they handed off to a guard or ran an option or some other silly bears nonsense. They called lots of plays that succeeded and scored lots of points but lost because the Ravens offense was unstoppable.
  18. What was wrong with the play call? I was not watching closely but looked to be a mismatch with a tight end on smaller db and a quick pass on the goaline that sailed on Burrow while there were half a dozen Ravens committing penalties. I thought it was interesting to go for 2 in the first place with more than 30 seconds to go and Baltimore then only needing a fg in regulation to win. Seemed like damned if you do damned if you don’t when the opposing offense is scoring every single drive. I think it’s silly to watch that game and come away thinking the play callers are equally as bad as the bears play caller.
  19. Yes because the bears were famously 100% healthy every game of Matt nagy’s tenure
  20. It’s not premature when there has been plenty of evidence for 3 years that Eberflus isn’t the guy. I mean, there was very little hope when they hired a coordinator off a mediocre organization that he would ever be the guy. The team quit on multiple occasions in 2022. That Giants game in particular was a master class in giving a game away. They blew a bunch of winnable games in 2023. His coaching staff imploded last year. He hired the most generic OC possible who’d never been a part of successfully developing a young qb. He lost the Commanders game. And his team quit in Arizona. This isn’t a new thing. It’s been building
  21. I just realized I’m going to “be able” to watch this game at a bar in the Philly area between kids hockey games. keep an eye out for drunk parent stories in your local paper Monday
