Why? He's a bad fielder, and a poor hitter, but he starts at one the most important defensive positions on the field and barring injury will likely get more PAs than anyone not named Soriano. What kind of reaction do you expect? I admit that a lot of the hate is overblown, but he's a bad player in every aspect of the game, it's absurd to expect people to not talk about how bad he is. I'm more than happy to have people talk about his shortcomings as a player. Goodness knows there are plenty to keep the conversation going. However, for people to jump all over anyone that says anything positive whatsoever about Theriot (or anyone else) is ridiculous. There's a way to disagree and make a point in a civil manner. That type of disagreement/conversation has been in short supply around here lately and I'm tired of it. Why does everything have to be so polarized? Just because Theriot is not a good player does not mean that he won't contribute positive things during the year. It doesn't mean that everyone should automatically hate the guy. He's out there living his dream and doing everything within his skillset to help the team. I admire the heck out of the guy for getting the most out of the talent that he has. It's not his fault he's our starting ss and top of the order hitter. Hate Hendry & Lou for that. Come on now Tim. I appreciate the keep it civil message, but "he's going to contribute positive things this year?" Almost every horrible baseball player has contributed something positive at some point. That doesn't justifty their placement on a major league roster, or starting lineup. It's the rate at which he contributes negatively that is the problem. I'm sorry, but this is professional baseball, and fans have the right to expect professional, ie, quality, caliber play, not just a guy living his dream and making the most of his gifts.
