  1. I would be shocked if Lou put DeRosa at SS for anything other than spot duty. I don't even think he likes him playing 2nd.
  2. It's more than a mild annoyance but less than a total perversion of the game.
  3. Last year, Jason Kendall, Ryan Therito, Cliff Floyd/Jacque Jones were everyday starters for a contending team. If Soriano, Aram, DLee, Fukudome, Soto and DeRo hit like they are capable of then you can live with a starting CF learning the ropes playing great defense. Theriot on the other hand doesnt bring defense or offense to the table, but the Cubs could still be contenders with both of them in the lineup. However, an upgrade at SS would make things much much easier, while letting the organizations top prospect play defense and provide what offense he can. Pie has shown an uncanny ability to make adjustments at every level hes been on when hes been given a chance to fight thru his struggles, and Im praying the Cubs are patient enough to let him see if he can make the adjustments at this level. OK, so you agree with me. Thanks. No, it looks like he disagrees, since he said they can be contenders with both in the lineup. All he said is that an upgrade of SS would make it easier.
  4. yeah, because theriot is to cedeno what ramirez is to fontenot. good point. yea because the sample size of cedeno is large enough to draw meaningful conclusions from it. (not directed to anyone in particular but) when are we going to realize and acknowledge Cedeno and the Riot BOTH suck big time? It is well known and acknowledged that Cedeno sucks right now. What is not acknowledged by some, for God knows what reason, is that there is reason to hope for improvements out of Cedeno. I don't understand why this has to be repeated so often.
  5. No, but any thread that gets bumped for the sole purpose of saying, "I told you so!" and then more people piling on has a great chance of being locked. The "Wood will be the greatest closer ever" thread was started Thursday had a number of posts Friday, Saturday and now today yet was locked by Banedon. For what reason? If it's because someone said "I told you so" or was being sarcastic, you're going to have approximately 127 locked threads in the next few months. I didn't post anything in there, it just seems extremely odd. 3 threads were bumped with the sole purpose of rubbing in the fact that Wood has done well. It was unnecessary. This one had been around the longest, and had recent posts, so it seemed like it was a good one to keep around. In any case, there isn't anything that would have been posted in there that can't be posted in here. The topics are quite similar. If there's 127 Wood threads bumped for this reason, than 127 locks it will be. But those who wanted to rip his chances without any legitimate basis for it WAS necessary? So in essence you can say anything you want about any player you want, and aren't held accountable for what you say? OF course people are going to feel vindicated when he does well, and it's human nature to want to express that vindication. I told you so is alot better, IMHO, than some of the personal sniping that goes back and forth. Sham Closer for president! What happens if in 3 months Wood goes on the DL? Does the vindication title change hands?
  6. I think I want one of those.
  7. I think that would be in doubt this year. The OBP different may make up for the power difference.
  8. That is not an insane proposition. And it's practically a lock when you then take the Soriano money and apply it to another position.
  9. Better than better than average? So really good? I would kill for average out of SS right now. Cedeno may never get there, but he's got a better chance than anybody affiliated with the Chicago Cubs.
  10. spot on
  11. The lineup doesn't matter when only two guys are showing up.
  12. Is that a monkey?
  13. Anybody check out Aramis Ramirez's first 600 PA in the majors?
  14. I don't know Truffle, I still can't tell.
  15. I tried for you buddy, just doesn't seem to be working out.
  16. It was only a 1-run loss, so they'll win more in the second half.
  17. None of that bolded section makes any sense whatsoever.
  18. If I had to? I would be more than happy to trade Marquis and Soriano, as long as the other team takes their contract.
  19. A baserunner. And the Cubs are about to see their 90th pitch of the day.
  20. Pat and Ron talking up walks, Santo earlier talking about the value of taking pitches. My lord, it's catching on.
  21. Soriano saw 5 pitches and Theriot saw 1. They didn't do the exact same thing. But people did go off on Soriano, that's why they were commenting on the top of the order.
  22. That's what happens when your first 2 batters of the game swing at the first pitch they see. I predict lou gives it one more week and by next weekend theriot will be tucked away nicely in the 8 spot. soriano on the other hand will be hitting leadoff until 2014 I think Soriano may be out of the leadoff spot by sometime next year. He's going to be dropped well before his contract ends, and I'm talking about 5 or 6 eventually.
