    They have boobs at Hooters?! Not to mention bad food and a 15% chance you'll taste aqua-net in the air. I've been to a handful of Hooters in my life, and most recently I found the ladies to be the most attractive and physicall fit I'd seen, and the food to be the worst. My mamories were always "good wings, girls that don't belong in those outfits", but this time was opposite.

    This is the same cycle that's been talked about for every young player. He can't get that confidence and learn the approach without playing. But he can't play until he gets the confidence and learns the approach. You can't just let him play a couple games and decide, "nope, he's not confident yet, pull 'em", and then expect him to learn what he needs to learn from the bench. He's got to play nearly everyday for a very long period of time before you can expect him to learn anything and show improvement. A guy like Theriot shows something to Lou right off the bat, and then can't lose his job for anything. Yet Pie struggles early and can't get a chance to improve. There's something wrong with such a system.

    they do the same with NFL sunday ticket I'd rather have it automatically renew. Here's how hard it is to cancel: type http://www.directv.com into your browser and click a few times. It shows up on your bill before the season starts, so you can also cancel then. I can see it being annoying, but I like the auto-renew. And it's not stupid, it's quite smart to charge people and then wait for them to cancel instead of not charging them and wait for them to renew.

    When the Cubs play on WCIU, or whatever weird station that is, and Pittsburgh doesn't broadcast the game, it hasn't been on EI in the past.

    It's just sprinkles. Shea is far too leniant with letting idiots wander around down low. These people usually end up taking an empty seat, then proceed to move all over the place as the people arrive at their seats. By the 2nd inning they've tried 5-6 different areas and then leave, and it disrupts everything, especially the sommelier.

    No matter how many good to great hitters there are in Detroit's lineup, no hitter is more important to the success of the team then Curtis Granderson. At first I thought this was sarcasm, but then I wasn't sure. Now I'm pretty sure it's not. Then explain why the Tigers are playing like crap against two crappy teams like the Royals and the White Sox, and trailing or lost today? I believe Granderson is more important to that offense, then originally believed. Because it's a handful of games and even the best teams play like crap over stretches of every season.

    I just checked the online guide. This is weird. This morning it was still 640. hmm, so I'm not crazy We don't know that. I don't get it. The other sports networks are all in the same place, as far as I can tell.

    Shea looks weird with the new building going up in left center. Pagan legged out an RBI infield single, 2-0 Mets. Mayor Mike and the mayor of Philly are chatting on SNY right now. Detroit/Boston 0-0, Balt/Texas 1-0.

    Well, I hope you are wrong. I remember wondering why it took so long for Lou to bench Theriot last fall. I am not really feeling that Pie lost his job, though. I think the game plan has been to let him hit against RHP, and Reed against LHP. I can live with a temporary platoon until Pie starts hitting his stride, but I am not a fan of the yearlong platoon with him. I just hope he starts hitting soon. It's just a matter of time. I think it's a lot more than a matter of time. There's a very real possibility that he nevers improves enough to warrent a full-time job. My feeling though, is you have to give him the chance to prove himself first.

    Even though we didn't actually draft him doesn't mean we weren't in the position to do so. If Hendry and his scouting department would have been able to see the possibilities for Hamilton, we wouldn't be playing Felix Pie and Reed freaking Johnson in CF right now. Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez Hamilton DeRosa Soto Theriot Am I the only one who does not have a problem with a 75/25 platoon between Pie and Johnson (assuming that's what the platoon averages out to when all is said and done) in CF? I don't have a problem with that, I just doubt that will be the ratio. But I'd take Hamilton over either situation.

    So are you thinking that Lou has found favor with Reed Johnson over Pie? With Soriano and Ramirez relatively cold as ice, I can see him looking for a little more production. I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about concerning Pie's grasp on CF. I think Lou may have decided he's unhappy with a $100+ million go for broke roster breaking in 2 rookies in the lineup. And since he's unlikely to be here a couple years from now, he's got very little interest in helping Pie develop for the future if he feels he can get any sort of marginal current upgrade by Johnson. I'm thinking Lou may have decided that Pie getting most of the PA and Johnson spelling him from time to time is going to be more like Johnson getting at least half the PA and Pie having to hit now or never to increase his playing time. He's shown a quick hook with guys before, and unflinching loyalty to little scrappy dudes as well. Yes, I think Lou has found favor with Reed over Pie. I'm not sure he has, and I'm sure he's could just as easily change his mind even if he has. But, the trend as it stands today, is not good.

    This is an odd thread. It would be strange if DeRosa's butchery continues for long. If it does, you have to consider going with Eric Patterson, Theriot/Cedeno, and Fontenot, and maybe reinitiating talks for Roberts. Although the latter option is going to be very costly. But the same can be said about Soriano's and Ramirez's bats, Lilly's pitching, and any number of strange early season trends across the league.

    Pie's got a dinged up hand, Johnson is seeing the ball well and producing, and there's another left hander going for the Pirates tomorrow. We're talking about a game or two here. This isn't about the "big picture", it's a temporary thing. Come back in off the ledge. Not really. We're talking 4 straight games after tomorrow, including against righties. 4 of 8 games does not equate to a game or two here and there, a breather, or little breaks. 4 of 8 is not a good sign, if it's a sign of anything.

    absolutely not here -- Pie already has enough motivation to succeed, he should be given the chance I don't think starting Johnson for a spell is going to take the chance to start away from Pie. He may need a little breather from time to time. Especially if he is being overmatched. A little break may do a player like him good. Little breather and a little break doesn't match up well with playing 4 games then sitting 3, soon to be 4. I completely agree with the idea of "little breaks", but game 4 was Pie's first 0-fer game (compared to Johnson going 0-fer in his second start) and then he sits. Right now, it might not be a problem, if that's an aberration. But if it's a sign of things to come, this isn't going to end well.

    In baseball? No way. It's one thing if a guy is loafing around. By fire under the butt isn't going to help a young hitter learn his job. And the fact is, as much as we'd like people to just come up and contribute, practically every young player has to be allowed to struggle in the majors before you can expect significant production. This is also why you don't go into a season where you want to break in 2 rookies with a player as horrible as Theriot at SS.

    This is a meaningless statement. It's like saying, "if the Cubs are winning with yellow shoelaces, they should keep wearing yellow shoelaces." Just because they've won some games WITH Johnson in the lineup in no way means they've won BECAUSE of him, and they haven't, and that argument shouldn't be used to yet again bench Pie when he should be playing as much as possible. What the hell are you talking about? If a guy is producing (Johnson), why should a guy who is not producing (Pie) play? I play the hot hand. Pie will get his AB's and on the job training. Let's put Johnson's production into perspective though. He had a nice game against a lefty, and should play against most of them if that continues. But his previuos game was an ugly 0-fer against a righty, and there's no good reason why he should play against them. I find it hard to call him the hot hand. He's 31 years old and has a very limited track record. He's no more of a hot hand than Mike Fontenot.

    That's not fine. The last game ended 16 hours ago. It's baseball season, as soon as one game ends our minds are on the next one. No time for dilly-dallying, I think soccer should be fined.
