Now see, that reeks of the Dusty Baker mentality that said, "I don't care what his numbers were in previous years with other teams, I need to see him with my own eyes before I can judge." You should either be against booing Miles or not. Saying you can't boo him because he's had only 2 AB's is wrong. Maybe I worded it wrong. I'm against booing players on your own team anyway - so I won't do it no matter who the player is and how bad he is. But, if the fans insist on booing a player, don't do it on opening day. Especially when a player is coming off a career year. I don't think Miles will repeat that year, but if he does, he could have some level of value to the team - however minor. At this point there's a high probability we've got Miles from pre-2008, but it's not a guarantee. That makes a little more sense, until the bolded part. Why would you expect a fan to think, "hey that guy sucks, but last year was his least sucky year. He performed it with our biggest rival and is very unlikely to repeat it, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt for a yet-to-be determined grace period to prove me wrong." I'm against booing Cubs players. I might give out a two second growl of frustration after a bad play, but sustained boos are just obnoxious. But there's no need for the qualifiers.
