    Last night I was really hoping to see him in the game instead of Marmol after Cotts put the 2 guys on. Using Marmol in that spot is just going to cause problems down the line. I wanted to see Cotts get out of it on his own. At that point the Cubs had a big enough lead and with the wind blowing the way it was, just let him pitch his way out of it. IMO, Marmol should not have been used. As Len and Bob pointed out, the Cubs are starting a stretch of 20 straight games. Rest Marmol when you can. The Cubs were coming off 2 straight off days, and Marmol had only thrown twice in an 8 day stretch. I don't typically like using him in a 5-run lead situation, but he threw just 7 pitches. He should be fine for tonight, if necessary. But hopefully he only throws in one of the next 2 games.

    The Packers did it, didn't they? I don't know how they did it or how reproducable it is, but it seems like it would be in the realm of possibility. Their system was set-up in the 1920's. My guess is MLB would be heavily against such a stock sale.

    Most people will look at that as the manager trying to make something happen. If it works, the manager is pressing the right buttons, if it fails, the players failed to execute.

    Directv has this game airing at 10 eastern on Versus. The Caps/Rangers game is set to air at 7 on Versus. If that one ends in regulation, there should be plenty of time to get this game on the air before the puck drops. Versus is going to be uavailable during the Rangers game for me, as it will air on MSG, so I hope it ends on time. Yeah, I see that has been changed on Directv. Now, hotel, please have Versus. Otherwise I'll be running around looking for a bar in Connecticut. Call hotel now and ask if they have it. They probably won't, in which case you should scout out some sports bars.

    They wouldn't be in the lineup, they'd be on the bench, exactly where you can use one dimensional sluggers and where one dimensional players already take up spots. Gathwright serves no purpose on this team. If, in another month or so, the Johnson/Fukudome combo in CF continues to look sufficient in CF, I'd really like to see them get rid of Gathwright and callup somebody who can bring some sort of offensive off the bench. Fox is probably the only legit option in the minors right now. Although if they found a guy who can play MI, that would be better.

    A lot of Mark Cuban's net worth is tied up in Yahoo stock, which has plummeted since this process began. A lot of people saw their net worth decline substantially. I don't really understand how you can't understand how this guy got his foot in the door. He's got a ton of cash, has access to the capital markets, ties to the Chicago area and wanted to own the team. You don't have to spend $900 million to buy a $900 million team. The Cubs payroll really has very little baring on this discussion, if any, that is paid for via revenues the team brings in, not the owners personal account.

    What the heck is a DC? Is that supposed to be DB? Defensive Center? There's no such position. The player mentioned is a CB, I don't know if that's supposed to be DB or CB.

    Where is he now? I'm too lazy too look it up oakland I miss Mike Wuertz. It still ticks me off that he got in Lou's doghouse because he had a tendency to walk a couple guys and yet Bob Howry was basically throwing batting practice out there in 2008 yet Lou kept running him out there. And the guys they bring in for 2009 have a bunch of issues with walks.

    Because he doesn't think he deserves the suspension, the suspension will cost him money, and there will be plenty of times during this season where "taking 2 days off" will make a lot of sense for Bradley.

    I think the official reason is kids still in school allows them to attend. I think it makes more sense to save a couple of the limited night games for midweek dead of summer, and schedule a few of these games for the day.

    They would be in such better shape if they just cancelled it today and scheduled a day/night DH for tomorrow.

    I thought the fences were the same at the new park? Isn't the only difference was the slight shrinkage of the foul territory behind home plate? RF was always very short at the old Yankee stadium.
