  1. Directv has this game airing at 10 eastern on Versus. The Caps/Rangers game is set to air at 7 on Versus. If that one ends in regulation, there should be plenty of time to get this game on the air before the puck drops. Versus is going to be uavailable during the Rangers game for me, as it will air on MSG, so I hope it ends on time.
  2. They wouldn't be in the lineup, they'd be on the bench, exactly where you can use one dimensional sluggers and where one dimensional players already take up spots. Gathwright serves no purpose on this team. If, in another month or so, the Johnson/Fukudome combo in CF continues to look sufficient in CF, I'd really like to see them get rid of Gathwright and callup somebody who can bring some sort of offensive off the bench. Fox is probably the only legit option in the minors right now. Although if they found a guy who can play MI, that would be better.
  3. A lot of Mark Cuban's net worth is tied up in Yahoo stock, which has plummeted since this process began. A lot of people saw their net worth decline substantially. I don't really understand how you can't understand how this guy got his foot in the door. He's got a ton of cash, has access to the capital markets, ties to the Chicago area and wanted to own the team. You don't have to spend $900 million to buy a $900 million team. The Cubs payroll really has very little baring on this discussion, if any, that is paid for via revenues the team brings in, not the owners personal account.
  4. What the heck is a DC? Is that supposed to be DB? Defensive Center? There's no such position. The player mentioned is a CB, I don't know if that's supposed to be DB or CB.
  5. Where is he now? I'm too lazy too look it up oakland I miss Mike Wuertz. It still ticks me off that he got in Lou's doghouse because he had a tendency to walk a couple guys and yet Bob Howry was basically throwing batting practice out there in 2008 yet Lou kept running him out there. And the guys they bring in for 2009 have a bunch of issues with walks.

  7. this isn't the handpicked MLB guy.
  8. What the heck is a DC? Is that supposed to be DB?
  9. Looks miserable http://www.cubworld.com/category/a_cubworld_cam and it's likely to stay that way for a while, at least off and on http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/map/interactive/60613?from=36hr_maps&zoom=8&interactiveMapLayer=radar There might be a late start, but enough of a window to get it in http://www.accuweather.com/us/il/chicago/60601/forecast-hourly.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&zipChg=1&metric=0
  10. Because he doesn't think he deserves the suspension, the suspension will cost him money, and there will be plenty of times during this season where "taking 2 days off" will make a lot of sense for Bradley.
  11. I think the official reason is kids still in school allows them to attend. I think it makes more sense to save a couple of the limited night games for midweek dead of summer, and schedule a few of these games for the day.
  12. They would be in such better shape if they just cancelled it today and scheduled a day/night DH for tomorrow.
  13. I thought the fences were the same at the new park? Isn't the only difference was the slight shrinkage of the foul territory behind home plate? RF was always very short at the old Yankee stadium.
  14. Tell that to the accuweather folks quoted on the issue.
  15. I didn't understand why that was being called a head shot. Had it actually been, the result of the impact would have been much different.
  16. Next thing you know, you'll be talking about which supermodel Tom Brady is knocking up. Gishelle is worth talking about.
  17. That's an interesting definition of darn good.
  18. I wonder how significant the timing of Jim Hendry's visit to Iowa and reports that he was trying to trade Fox all spring, are to Joshua's gushing.
  19. I doubt that's it. I've been a passionate follower of Cubs minor leaguers for a decade now, and have always had a few guys who I just had to see what they were doing. Indifference would be a poor description. If I was indifferent I wouldn't be disappointed in the status of the system. Maybe it has something to do with being less fascinated with low level numbers and with Vitters being the only good prospect, but still at a very low level, I'm not obsessed with it. Or maybe it's because I would have preferred Weiters and hold it against him. I guess as the season goes along I might get more interested in him, or more interested in some other standout that emerges.
  20. Actually, the idiot is Ochocinco for not changing his name to the right thing. But that wouldn't be nearly as funny or cool had he done "ochenta y cinco" or "ochenty cinco". Technically his name isn't wrong. He doesn't call himself number eighty-five. He calls himself eight five. So, technically his name is correct in being Ocho Cinco (two words, both capitalized). Did he ever call himself eight five? I've heard plenty of people referred to as the individual digits, and not the actual number, but how did that go with Chad? On second thought, I don't give a crap. Why am I talking about this?
  21. we all knew our bullpen would suck before the season. should die hard nat fans not worry about their rotation after one week? I'm actually not that concerned about our pen. Marmol and Gregg are obviously darn good. I'm a huge Heilman fan. If Gooz keeps his arm intact, I have no doubt that his performance will be fine... hell, even Vizcaino aint half bad, provided he never faces a lefty. Patton is a gamble, and Cotts sucks. That's still a good deal better than most teams. I don't get how Gregg is obviously darn good. He's a fairly questionable bullpen arm.
  22. This clearly includes the home town fans. Oh, note, too that the game was held up by rain. And, even though they were off last night, I'm sure the Pens series had an effect, too. Yeah, the weather sucked and they were facing Florida. But it was still pretty amazing how empty it was when they panned over the entire stadium, and seriously, maybe they shouldn't have shown that angle at all. Entire sections were empty down on the field level, all the way to the front row.
