  1. Now see, that reeks of the Dusty Baker mentality that said, "I don't care what his numbers were in previous years with other teams, I need to see him with my own eyes before I can judge." You should either be against booing Miles or not. Saying you can't boo him because he's had only 2 AB's is wrong. Maybe I worded it wrong. I'm against booing players on your own team anyway - so I won't do it no matter who the player is and how bad he is. But, if the fans insist on booing a player, don't do it on opening day. Especially when a player is coming off a career year. I don't think Miles will repeat that year, but if he does, he could have some level of value to the team - however minor. At this point there's a high probability we've got Miles from pre-2008, but it's not a guarantee. That makes a little more sense, until the bolded part. Why would you expect a fan to think, "hey that guy sucks, but last year was his least sucky year. He performed it with our biggest rival and is very unlikely to repeat it, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt for a yet-to-be determined grace period to prove me wrong." I'm against booing Cubs players. I might give out a two second growl of frustration after a bad play, but sustained boos are just obnoxious. But there's no need for the qualifiers.
  2. But he showed signs of wearing down long before he approached the 100 game mark, let alone the full season. Not that it's related or anything, but what was the injury Fukudome was recovering from prior to coming to the states last year? I have forgotten. Some sort of elbow surgery I think. Bone chips maybe.

  4. Is anybody else excited about the NFL's schedule release tonight? I have a couple of potential road trips depending on what happens.

  6. The Directv guide has CSN showing the Sox Thursday night, so it would have be a CSN+ channel. DTV does carry an extra CSN sometimes, so it's a possibility. Not a big deal, but it would be great to listen to Pat and Eddie and get to see/hear the anthem. CSN's website says white sox pregame and game are on CSN+, and blackhawks pregame, game and postgame are on regular CSN.
  7. Jiggets is a deep thinker compared to high school drop out North. It's North/Jiggetts or Mike/Mike on ESPN. Which one is going to talk more about the Cubs? Sportsrise would have. These guys talk about nonsense. And when they do talk about the Cubs, they go on about some random worthless topic.
  8. And it will be on CSN. My concern is, will I be able to watch it? Do they black out out of market playoff games on regional networks? Will they throw in on NHL network as well? I'm very curious about this too, especially for Thursday night. Thursday's game is on Versus. And not on CSN as well? I would much prefer to watch on CSN if I can. comcast says it's airing the game as well.
  9. Because he's not popular. He's been beaten in ratings in nearly every time slot he had on the radio and now he's starting the tv gig with an accompanying internet based sports radio station. He's made a career of out representing the "blue collar" Chicagoan but he's just a caricature of himself and really embarrassing that some view him as the representation of Chicago. The question is not about his current ratings, but rather, how did he become so popular. Clearly he did become popular. But he never should have become an established personality. He's an idiot with nothing to say. I liked sportsrise especially when games ran a little late and I passed out without seeing the end. I'd throw that show on while getting ready in the morning to see what happened. Now, if I ever throw on that channel, North is just blabbering about nonsense and Jiggets is doing nothing. Were those two radio partners at one point?
  10. I'm just saying that for every other team in baseball, you don't even have the option of choosing to listen to/watch your team's own broadcast. If you're lucky enough to have a baseball package that allows you to watch your team out of market, you pretty much take what they give you, whether it's your broadcast or the other teams. In other words, it's not all that sad that you might have to tune into another team's broadcast to get a nice HD picture. For a fan of any other team, that's the only choice, anyway. I don't really have a problem watching another team's broadcast. And I will whenever it's an HD option while WGN is not. But it is an option. Most of the games you can watch whichever broadcast you prefer.

  12. Monsters in the morning is just awful. How did that mongoloid Mike North become so popular in Chicago? And Dan Jiggets tries to put himself up as a deep thinker, but he's such a simpleton.

  14. I don't see the point.
  15. I would, but I'd rather people not know I'm still here and able to go on a conference call. What the hell, isn't it 6:30 over there? 6:37. Call starts at 6:45. You can be one of the last handful of people around here and when you leave you'll here, "Half day?"
  16. I would, but I'd rather people not know I'm still here and able to go on a conference call.
  17. I hate that they go through the credits during the freaking 9th inning.
  18. mlb network finally goes to this game, and I get to see my first Wrigley pitch of the year, a ball 4 from Gregg.
  19. He doesn't expect much from Gregg either? Surely Gregg will get us through this without too much drama. It's 4 runs, come on now. you are being sarcastic right? playing on the whole 4-run lead that almost got away thing from last night?
  20. It is a bit strange with a 3 run lead. It's not that strange, in general. You can then justify sitting down your closer. But with the Cubs talking about Gregg's knee not being able to rest after warming up, it seems odd. They can keep him warming up with somebody else starting the 9th though and bring him in only if it turns back into a save situation. He pitched yesterday, but not Saturday, and he won't be pitching tomorrow.
  21. To scratch one more run across and make it a non-save situation.
  22. The bad thing is now Gregg might have to ruin it.
  23. Was there some sort of opportunity for Fontenot to run him over? I think Helton wins that collision every time. helton's not a huge guy, and he was in awkward position, leaning over with his back to the runner. fontenot hit the brakes before he got to the bag in order to avoid any kind of collision, so it cost us a baserunner and an out, probably. Helton is a huge guy in comparison to Fontenot.
  24. damn, you edited that before I had a chance to comment.
