At this point, I really don't understand not bringing Brown back. They can get him cheap, and at the very least he can buy you some time early in the season to get those guys coached up. Is it possible there was some sort of falling out with the coaching staff? knowing mike brown's penchant for saying what's on his mind, it wouldn't surprise me at all. The only thing I could think of is they feel he's taken his coach on the field role a little too literally, and he's disregarding the actual coachs' words. Maybe they are letting him dangle to teach him a lesson about his value, but either way, he'd still be the best safety on the Bears.
