  1. Why is that an expletive? It's not like they went out and stole stuff or were dealing drugs. They sold their own possessions. That could very easily be because they and their families had no money. It's a blatantly obvious violation but not some horrible action. It's always the "right intent" according to the violators and the schools and that they were just unaware of the rules. Every single student athlete knows the rules. The bottom line is they did something damaging to their program, their own careers, and professional prospects for some cash. And they didn't even do it in a wise manner. They sold their own property. And that necessarily means there was a righteous intent behind it? Does it necessarily mean there was not?

  5. shocking that players would try and sell stuff for a little cash

  7. Can someone please explain to me, again, how Jay Cutler is a douchebag? I'd also appreciate if the explanation wasn't from an irrational Bears hater. If his deal in Denver is what made him a douchebag, please reconsider the situation. They threatened to replace him with an inferior QB in Matt Cassel right after he made the Pro-Bowl. He deserved to be pissed. Facial expressions and tone of voice is all I've ever heard people justify that claim with.
  8. It's weird, sure. But the most important thing is McNabb is a Redskin. The respect he built up was with Philly. He carries none of that with him to a new team that got nothing out of him. He claimed he found out about being 3rd from the media. Players claim that all the time. The contract was very clearly a "we aren't interested in you long time here's money now shut up" deal when looked at after the fact. If McNabb and his agent didn't realize that, they are morons. As for Grossman, he's 30 and there is no reason he can't be counted on as a veteran backup for the foreseeable future. Why not see how well he's grasping the system?
  9. Yes, that's what winning the division gives you. They probably need 2 wins for a bye though, and a reasonable shot at the Super Bowl.
  10. I always felt Philly fans gave McNabb a raw deal during his entire time with the Eagles. But all this nonsense about him feeling disrespected and everybody running to his defense is sickening. The guy is an old crappy QB who is not performing. He does not deserve special treatment. Teams treat underperforming veterans this way all the time. He was a star QB on another team, but that time is over. He's a sub 60% passer with very little production and lots of turnovers. There is no upside to McNabb anymore. If an old vet isn't performing, there's no point in holding out for the hope that he will do better. For some reason people are trying to lump in his treatment with how he has treated Haynesworth, who has been about the most despicable bum in the league in terms of effort. If you don't perform, are old and cost a lot, you are on your way out in the NFL. That is the way it has always been. There's no point in talking about how unfair or disrespectful it is.
  11. Yeah, he's a quality straight man and most of his humor is the somewhat surprising and subtle digs he takes when he appears to be Mr. Nice Guy.
  12. Do no-name wannabe play by play guys ever work as the color guy? Those are almost always former players. What sort of color could he possibly provide?
  13. He is saying he admitted to not being a hard worker before, thus, last in and first out.
  14. Martz raved about his work in the film room.
  15. It's more like, if your aunt stopped dressing your cousin up as a girl and making him play with dolls he'd look more like a boy.
  16. That was one of myriad things wrong about that article. Who the hell thinks Jay Cutler is elite? And who would take Mark Sanchez over him? Terry Bradshaw would take Sanchez. I think Cutler is right there with the elite. If he had some better offensive weapons and played in a dome I think he could put up monster numbers.
  17. The back cover of Newsday: http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2010/12/22/gal_frontpage_1222.jpg Saw that on way into train and cracked up.
  18. That would appear to be the case since he didn't appear to make any plays in the Redskins game.
  19. When all you have to do is come in and work a drive or two while down by a couple scores, that type of QB can flourish without much exposure. It's the 4 quarters worth of hits and full weeks of opposing defenses preparing for you that can be tough.
  20. He doesnt' know nearly as much about the Bears as he should for such a Bears-centric expert.
  21. Freaking Hub, it's probably a 2-man race between him and Don Banks to see who can fall over themselves the most explaining how lucky the Bears have been.
  22. Yes, he missed the Seattle game, which was when I believe Cutler still wasn't 100% post concussion. I was misled by sports talk radio! Also I forgot. Pisa has failed to accumulate stats in 4 games, and I believe he left another one after making one tackle. Also, the line was plagued by injuries early in the season. Garza and Williams missed time. Desmond Clark was slated to be a part of this offense but hasn't played much at all after some early injuries. Manumaleuna was injured in training camp and I think that made him limited early in the season. Also, Major Wright was expected to compete for a starting position but was too injured to get the job and too injured to play most of the first half of the season. Then there's Hillenmeyer. I'm not sure where you got your starter numbers of games missed, but it's not true. They have been relatively lucky with health, in comparison to GB and INDY, as well as last year's team. But they haven't completely avoided the injury bug either.

  24. You really think he's entirely untradeable? His contract isn't that outrageous, and up until this year he's played pretty much like a second line forward. It's a blessing for the Hawks that Sharp learned the center position so well and so quickly, but it kinda made Bolland expendable. I think there's got to be teams out there that wouldn't mind bringing him on. I think teams would be willing to take him on if they gave up nothing, but he's potentially too valuable to the Blackhawks to justify giving away just for cap relief. The contract isn't obscene, but it is large and somewhat burdensome at 3.3+ for the next 3.5 seasons.
  25. I agree with this statement basically. It's obvious you don't BUILD from FA, by any stretch. But, as a fan, you like to know that your owner will go out and "buy" you the occasional piece, when needed. It wouldn't upset me at all if we added a starting O-Lineman(or two) or maybe even a veteran WR in FA this offseason. There have been times in the past where I've been pissed we missed out on someone, but I don't think we've got too much to complain about here either. I'm glad we don't take the Washington or Dallas approach. Chicago has been in on a fairly large amount of free agent spending this past decade, plus they had about a 2-3 year spending spree just keeping all the stars that made the 2006 defense great. Their ownership gets unfairly ridiculed for not whoring out the team more than they do. The Redskins model sucks, while the Cowboys is quite flawed.
