    Yeah, Cutler may be the most hated by the media who judge guys strictly on how they interact with them. But he's more of a secondary character in the long list of NFL players that people hate.

    It's actually not a terrible column. It's more or less fair, rehashing a lot of stuff we've all seen, but fair. He doesn't care what people think of him and I don't care that he doesn't care. I don't know why any fan would. I can see it frustrating the press who just live for pretending they can get you the inside story and really show you who a guy is. He's the best offensive player this team has had since Walter Payton left and that's all that really matters. Peyton Manning is a media/advertising whore and people hate him for that. Tom Brady is Mr. Cool and people hate him for that. Philip Rivers is a demonstrative bitch and people hate him for that. Brett Favre is Brett Favre and people hate him for that. There's no reason to try and force a Mr. Nice Guy personality.

    He's talking about the Seahawks own offensive gameplan against the Bears, as opposed to how they gameplanned for that crazy Denver defense or the confusing 49ers and Tampa. It's meaningless throwaway nonsense.

    I would too unless you can get something of value for Fukudome. The drop from Fuku to a Colvin/Johnson platoon is minimal enough that if you could seriously upgrade another position it might actually make sense. Not sure what position that is though. Second base maybe? Highly doubt we're getting a top center fielder for Kosuke. While that specific dropoff might not be huge, the bigger problem is this destroys the OF depth and the other 2 positions include 2 guys who will not play 162 games of irreplacable ball. Some other guy is then going to fill the 5th OF spot, and a team already lacking in OBP ability will get that much worse.

    If this is true, that's just insane. A regular season NBA game over an NFL playoff game? I don't care what team is coming to town... I agree though, most Bears fans are predicting a blowout and probably don't see a point in forking out the money for that. Personally, I'd have a lot of fun watching a Bears blowout in person. Depends on how you define demand. There are 3 times as many Bears tickets out there. You only need 21,000 people who want to go to the Bulls game for demand to outstrip supply, but you need 62,000 people wanting to go to the Bears game. Also, Bears playoff tickets are much more susceptible to high levels of brokers trying to make a buck, so secondary market supply is bound to be high.

    Well, he didnt openly come out and say it, but comparing himself to "Wild Thing" Ricky Vaughn definitely hints at that being what he meant. So he was in prison?

    Garza is far from a "ho-hum" pitcher. If being named an ALCS MVP and tossing a no-hitter before he hits his prime is boring in your book, man I'd like to learn what a good player does. Pena isn't chopped liver either... Pena sucked last year and has a mediocre career for a 1B. Garza is good, but what I meant was a ho-hum name. People aren't buying tickets for Garza games.

    Just saw headline on Tribune about "fan favorite Reed Johnson returning" and it dawned on me that this is some sort of PR move more than baseball. Every year they have to drum up interest around the convention and prior to ticket sales. This year they weren't able to go out and get any big names and the biggest trade they made involved giving up a lot of talent for a ho-hum guy who isn't going to sell tickets. They sign Wood, bring back Reed Johnson, resign Koyie Hill (who a lot of people like for some reason) all in time for the convention.

    What is Stanford doing with their position? Any chance somebody like Mike Martz shows up on a college head coaching radar? Offensive gurus seem to be all the rage in college. NFL coordinators with failed stints as head coaches tend to be strong candidates for college positions, and Martz does have a lot of Pac-10/California ties.

    Yeah, me too. I'd really like Cutler to have a game like the 2nd Vikes game or the Jets game. I'm not asking for 81% completion like the Detroit game or 4/0 TD/INT ratio like Philly. But 55-60% completion, 22-27 attempts, 190-220 yards, a couple TDs and no more than 1 INT. I won't have very much confidence in beating GB/Atl if Cutler doesn't have a QB rating over 80. I'd like to see 60% be the floor.

    Hey, let's stop with the offseason talk. Bears need to beat Seattle and I think they will, and cover the spread. Chicago is 9-6-1 AGS, Seattle is 8-9. Chicago is 5-3 AGS at home, Seattle is 2-6 AGS on the road.

    Brandon Jacobs is a FA. Could be a good pair with Forte...if you're ok with dealing with the personality. I'd much rather pair Forte with a more dynamic runner than a bruiser. And I'd rather keep my RBs young than get well worn free agents. Jacobs has almost twice as many carries as Thomas Jones had when they signed him.
