  1. Pat Hughes will stop at nothing to profit from the death of Ron Santo.
  2. He can't make all the throws, or at least he hasn't shown he can. He hasn't shown he can fit the ball in when his receiver gets very little separation. I think you will see the offense dumbed down a little for Hanie. He won't be asked to do as much as Jay is. 3rd and long is going to be a draw or screen down for at least the next few weeks. What Hanie can do is throw on the move and throw the corner route. Teams are going to be torched if they just expect him to dump it down to Forte or underneath WRs all game. I think he will pick his spots deep, and he will throw the 15-18 yard corner route all day if they let him. Yeah, I think the biggest difference is going to come on those drives were Jay was actually completely 3rd and 8, while the typical Bears offense just tries to get into better punting situation.
  3. It would take forever to get into stadiums. I've never see a 1st inning.

  5. 2016 Wow, even more awful. Honest question for everybody: Would you rather have the old CBA with a clause that everybody had to fondle a replica of Selig's crusty old balls upon entry at all MLB stadiums or this new CBA? this one
  6. the sport is driving uphill
  7. All the more reason to spend the money on a free agent first baseman this year.
  8. Not sure I'm following him there. Small market teams get money from Yankees and Red Sox and they are forced to spend it, but this system won't allow them to spend it wisely, on their system.
  9. I'm not happy about this, but I'm not apoplectic either. The Cubs only hope for contending under Hendry was spending more than the other guys. Under Theo we can actually expect them to spend smartly. I have confidence in this front office's ability to work within the system to gain an advantage.
  10. As somebody else, I believe SSR, pointed out, it should not be surprising that current players agreed to this, because they hate prospects as much as the next guy. They don't care about the next 17 year old coming after their job, they care about allowing themselves to have as many current big leaguers keep their jobs.
  11. Team's guns and wallets will be the same. Which means more reliance on having the proper information about who to go after.
  12. Isn't there still benefit in being able to find the right guy? Why wouldn't you want to be on the ground and have a heads up on who to go after rather than potentially being scooped by some team that swings in with guns/wallets blazing.
  13. Not in 6 month long day-to-day leave like MLB. Balanced schedules are pointless endeavors.
  14. Why would you prefer Feliz throw 80 innings rather than 200? All else being equal of course you'd want the guy to go 200, but you can't simply assume the quality of those innings will translate, or that he will make it to 200 IP. He's never started a game in the majors. He's only gone 120 IP once in his pro career, and that was 4 seasons ago.
  15. They just did a rundown of their guests for the next hour + and I didn't hear Theo's name. Wherever Theo goes, he is the host.
  16. I don't see why he'd have to score runs, but I'd think he should be a ridiculously good pitcher to get the MVP as well. score runs, as in, contribute other than being the starting pitcher in just 21% of the team's games. even then, he only went the distance 4 times! how valuable is THAT?!? But they contribute to nearly 50% of every play in every game they do play in, while a position player may only contribute to a handful of plays in the field and 5 PA.
  17. Not one high profile award, but there are silver slugger awards for each position, plus gold gloves for each position (and those often take into account hitting for some reason). Pitchers account for nearly 50% of the league, and they have one gold glove, one silver slugger (they do, right?) and one Cy Young. Position players have 8 silver sluggers (unless DH gets one, so 9th for half the teams), 8 gold gloves, and most MVPs. I don't think hitters are lacking in recognition.
  18. Almost certain that's illegal. In leagues with salary caps, yes. Not sure about MLB.
  19. Paterno never had a problem with males sticking their appendages where they didn't belong. Is he sexist now?
  20. By skipping a chance to air a Boston game?
  21. Why would you say this when you just witnessed our defense win a game vs. Detroit in exactly this fashion? Counting on the defense to score doesn't seem like a solid game plan, I hope I'm wrong. It's a bad plan to build a franchise around for the long haul, but it's not an absurd concept to rely on for a game or two, especially with this defense and special teams. They are designed to score.
  22. Could it be that they don't trust their current batch of scouts down there, aside from McCleod, of course? Maybe they use it as a reason to see how their base of operations works down there.
  23. I don't see why he'd have to score runs, but I'd think he should be a ridiculously good pitcher to get the MVP as well.
