  1. I'm not trying to equate it to what the proper value is, I'm saying I don't like the idea of coming out of this draft minus Forte and the 19 and getting back the 4.
  2. I would hesitate, big time. I would need to figure out a way to get their 2nd round pick in that situation. Forte, 19 and 50 for 4 and 35? I don't know. Forte and the 19 should be worth a lot. And they'd be coming out of this draft down a RB.
  3. http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2012/04/the-dumbest-thing-you-will-read-all-week.html#more-47248 philly writer writes something dumb about Asante Samuel, ksk makes fun of it
  4. Well that's a horrible decision by the Bears.
  5. I'd probably prefer that as well. But it's not stupid to take kuechly at 19.
  6. I wouldn't just want any LB taken at 19 though. My point is specifically if a guy who many have as a top 10 talent just happens to drop to them, there's no reason to pass because of position depth. If he does fall it could easily mean a run on other positions has hit the value of those positions as well.
  7. No, it really isn't. It's not about waiting for Urlacher to retire. This is the NFL. Teams decide when they want to move on from a player, not the other way around. If a LB of value is available at the slot it would be perfectly reasonable to make the selection. The defense can use help everywhere. moving on from urlacher would also be monumentally stupid if they don't see any red flags in terms of decline. the defense does not need help at linebacker, it needs help in the pass rush and that's where the value is going to have the largest effect. at this point, there is just isn't a huge leap in value there for the team. Who knows how it will play out, but it's entirely possible that the pass rushing value won't match up to the potentially Kuechly value if he drops to them. We've already seen yellow flags. Urlacher has been on the decline. He's also coming off a serious injury, and recovering from serious injuries at his age is difficult. He is signed for one more season, and it is going to be difficult to bring him back at a cost/cap effective extension. The smart football thing to do is to probably let him walk after 2012. That might not happen, but he has to be willing to take a lot less money to justify a new deal.
  8. WHY ISN'T ANYONE STOPPING HIM good deserved it
  9. 15 is nowhere near a conservative low end estimate.
  10. I think it's a really big stretch to assume that isn't being all that optimistic. 4-5 relief pitchers? So 3 years from now you assume almost the entire bullpen will be Cubs pitchers acquired under Hendry/Wilken? Doubtful. They will probably have 3-4 guys we haven't even thought of yet in that bullpen. This is sounding very Choi/Montanez/Hill/Kelton to me. If you think they make the playoffs next year, okay. But that is doubtful. And you really have to make some unlikely assumptions to be putting together the 2014 roster right now.
  11. I kind of want them to move up in the 2nd, having 2 picks in the top 35-40 or so could really help provide 2 impact 2012 starters.
  12. Pompei has the Bears taking Mercilus with Jones/Floyd/Perry all on board.
  13. I believe this has been assumed all offseason. Somebody with the trib tweeted yesterday that it doesn't make sense to trade for Osi because he thought "the goal was to get younger". The goal for the Bears should be to get younger. There is no huge need to get younger, it's all about bringing in talent. They don't need a 33 year old back up QB. But they can use talent anywhere, no matter the age, if the price is right.
  14. Kiper's latest has Chandler Jones. McShay's latest had Coples (now hightower). They've been all over. Huh, I was watching the scrolling bar on Mike and Mike this morning and it was running through their 1st round mocks. Maybe the "final" links were wrong, or they have a different definition of the word.
  15. Kiper's latest has Chandler Jones. McShay's latest had Coples (now hightower). They've been all over.
  16. How? That's saying the next playoff team will be made up almost entirely of the team's own prospects, and almost all of those guys would have been acquired by Hendry/Wilken. Unless they make the playoffs next year the 25 man roster will turnover significantly before then. And it's highly doubtful the organization as it stands will supply another dozen or so 25-man roster players to the next playoff squad.
  17. I saw him maybe a half dozen times and was never impressed. But I don't have a strong track record of judging college QBs and their chances in the NFL.
  18. No, it really isn't. It's not about waiting for Urlacher to retire. This is the NFL. Teams decide when they want to move on from a player, not the other way around. 19. No he isn't. He's competent enough to hold his own in the short-term. But he's very far from very good. He's completely replaceable. who cares if he's replaceable? the position is unimportant. he absolutely does all you can ask for at SAM and plays it as well as anyone could. replacing him with a first round linebacker and waiting for urlacher to retire is an indefinite waste of a pick. kuechly isn't going to perform much better at the position and as i said, could get sidetracked in his development. drafting a linebacker in the first is moronic. No. It is not.
  20. Did people just ignore the freaking rest of the team? It wasn't the goalie. This team suffered from a severe downgrade of productivity and effectiveness at every single position, with the exception of Hossa, and he missed the playoffs. The obsession with goalie is not addressing the real issues. Is Crawford a stanley cup goalie? If Niemi can be, so can he. Is Marc Andre Fleury a stanley cup goalie? He just got his ass handed to him. And that's happened a lot. The Blackhawks didn't lose to Phoenix because of their goalie, they lost because they couldn't score goals. They lost because their best offensive player ended the playoffs with 4 GD points. They lost because they are completely incompetent on the PP. Goalies come and go. As soon as one plays well enough to get recognition and a contract he's no longer a standout. The Blackhawks need to shake up their core, which is either incredibly overrated or is still living off the accolades of 2 years ago. If they can get somebody to trade for Sharp, I'd like that. If they can get Buffalo to overpay for their hometown boy Kane, fine by me. If they can upgrade over Crawford, but don't do something stupid and acquire Luongo or some other reputation goalie with a big price tag. I'd rather go the gambling route on that position and go with cheap retreads or a kid out there. I'd be fine if they opened the season with Crawford, assuming they spend the offseason addressing the real needs. The rest of the entire team.
  21. I'm glad the writer clarified that one for us.
  22. No he isn't. He's competent enough to hold his own in the short-term. But he's very far from very good. He's completely replaceable.
  23. Not if Kuechly is there at 19. And if we trade down, David would make sense in the bottom 20's, despite being a slight reach. Thats also supposing there isn't also an equally talented player at a position of greater need, but I wouldm't be upset with a LB if the right circumstances happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk we're set up to win right away, kuechly doesn't help us do that. you draft immediate impact players right away and then projects later on. i don't and have never believed in drafting the best player available, regardless of position. it may be that you have a more talented and seasoned alternative ahead of them on the depth chart. if kuechly falls, you look to trade down, if you can't you draft a pass rusher. With a qb or rb, sure. But with every other position there is more than enough room for that type of talent.
