    As I posted above, you aren't getting Woo for Hoerner, Murray, and one of Wesneski/Wicks. That's why I included Garver and Thaiss. The other deal is an overpay, but Triantos, Alcantara, and Palencia are all prospects who may or may not be successful in the ML, while we are getting two solid ML players. Good teams sometimes overpay to get what they want.

    Taking Garver's contract is hopefully the incentive to trade Woo, otherwise we would need to add another decent prospect to get to Woo's trade value. The other deal is somewhat an overpay, but that's what good teams need to do to get the players they want. From what I've seen, Woo is Korean but has never discussed his ethnicity. Making these two trades would definitely put them at or over 90 wins.

    How about a couple of trades: Trade 1 -Hoerner, Wicks, Wesneski, Thaiss, and Murray for Woo and Garver. Trade 2- Triantos, Alcantara, + Palencia for Lowe + Fairbanks. (Added benefit - Woo's last name added to Imanaga and Suzuki helps convince Sasaki to sign with the Cubs)

    That's assuming the Cubs prefer Crochet rather than any of the Mariners' pitchers.

    You know I love a 3-way trade, but I don't see the need to include the WS in this deal. Hoerner plus 2 good prospects for a young Mariners starter.

    Any trade for Cody or Nico has to involve getting back someone who will help in 2025. some of the suggestions like Bellinger for Castillo makes some sense as well as Bellinger for Castellanos + Alvarado + cash.

    I guess we'll have to disagree. The last thing the Cubs needed was to totally overpay a broken-down lefty to add to the other lefties we have in the rotation. Lorenzen would be cheaper, more durable, righty, and probably better in my opinion.

    Jed should have signed Lorenzen instead of Boyd and saved money in the process.

    I wouldn't mind if they signed Lorenzen and then mix and match at the bottom of the rotation.

    I like the Phillies deal if they throw in $12 million +. Castellanos becomes DH and Alvarado would add veteran experience in the late innings.

    Hoerner and Triantos could be the starting 2B and SS next year for them. Earlier I mentioned a trade proposal including Thaiss and Garver in a deal. Getting rid of Garver's $12 contract might be an incentive for them and would help our bench.

    They really have a weak middle-infield situation and they want/need Hoerner. Throw in Triantos + pitching prospects (i.e. Wicks, Wesneski) and you might get it done.

    Fried is better, but Flaherty would work too. Unfortunately, he's probably out of our price range too.

    Hoerner + 2 prospects might get you Woo. Add at least 1 more prospect to have a chance at Kirby.

    Then add two more prospects and change from Miller to Gilbert/Kirby if that will make you happier.

    Miller had a 3.4 WAR last year and made $749,000 last year and he's not a FA until 2030. Woo had a 2.4 WAR at the same salary and same FA date. Kirby had a 1,9 WAR, same salary, FA date of 2029. Gilbert had 2.8 WAR, salary of $4 million, and FA date of 2029. All 4 of them are dirt cheap with at least 4 years of control. All of them will certainly get raises in their arbitration years, but not as much as some of what the mediocre FAs are asking.

    How about Hoerner + Alcantara +Wesneski + Thaiss for Miller + Garver.

    Since the Mariners are really interested in Hoerner, I wonder if they would do Hoerner + Alcantara + Palencia for their closer Munoz. Baseballtradevalue.com shows us overpaying, but it might be worth it to get a young, cheap, and proven closer.

    You do realize that Castillo has between $75 million and $100 million left on his contract over the next 3-4 years,

    I'll accept the fact that Stroman has regressed, and he may not be what the Cubs want or need, but saying the younger Stroman "was at least a #4" is ridiculous. His 11-year career ERA+ matches Kyle Hendricks.
