  1. It's easy to look back and play the "what if" game, but the Cubs have many areas that were far below average during the season.
  2. Are you sure the mediocrity is only short term?
  3. How about a lame duck President of baseball operations who actually saves his jub by spending money wisely and making good trades that will help short term without hurting things long term. Unfortunately, I don't think Hoyer has the brains or the cajónes to do it.
  4. Quick rundown, basically the Pirates were ahead by a TD and a FG, but the Cubs came back to two late TDs.
  5. Are you saying we're doomed for next year?
  6. It will never happen with Ricketts and Hoyer running things.
  7. He certainly hasn't made an immediate impact, but Morel is at .191/.296/.357 for the season and .135/.250/.250 since the trade plus 3 errors in 7 games @ 2B (his "stronger" position).
  8. The real question is: Shouldn't the President of Baseball Operations know what the payroll is before spending the whole season trying to stay under the luxury tax?
  9. It's a great year for the Cubs because the White Sox suck, and the Cardinals will be under .500. Meanwhile "Wait until next year".
  10. Isn't that what they've been doing for months?
  11. That will be Hoyer's excuse. There's no way Hoyer/Ricketts gets anywhere near Soto's top bid.
  12. When wasn't the NL Central spectacularly average?
  13. Favorite all-time Cub is Ernie Banks obviously. Favorite current Cub is Nico Hoerner because of his work ethic and professionalism.
  14. Defensive replacement and pinch running won't give him the reps he needs if he's going to ever develop into a hitter. If they get one of those players, you mentioned, he won't be getting many ABs.
  15. You're treading in deep water by removing our future star CF. I do agree that it would be great to put some offensive players on the field though.
  16. I didn't miss anything. He's making adjustments, but they haven't changed much in his offensive numbers yet. His positive value comes entirely from his defense, which was never questioned by anyone. I get that he has tremendous potential, but he has to start hitting eventually to realize that potential. I'll be more than happy if he can become a .250 hitter with his defense and speed.
  17. Maybe, but if I'm right we're going to lose a lot of games waiting for him to turn into a ML hitter.
  18. The Padres had just traded for Yonder Alonzo to play 1B which means Rizzo was blocked. Also, the Pardes wanted Andrew Cashner.
  19. His OPS+ is now 56 after he has had a "hot streak". I just don't think he's going to become a decent, ML hitter and the more that he continues below the Mendoza line the more his trade value disappears.
  20. They could certainly add a bat in CF. Bellinger can play RF and Suzuki DH. If we're serious about offense, they ought to play Tauchman.
  21. Okay, then trade other prospects for Chisolm and send PCA down until he learns to hit.
  22. I don't think he's overrated, but offering PCA for Chisholm would have been a good deal too.
  23. PCA still has a lot of trade value. Trade PCA + for Robert and you solve all of the offensive woes.
  24. Paredes at worst gives us a solid bat and 3B for multiple years at a cheap price. At best, he's an All-Star slugger and 3B.
