People are always going to bitch about something when things don't go there way - pass interference calls favoring the Chiefs, the election was stolen, Harris was given the questions ahead of time in the debate, etc.
I wasn't singling you out, but there have been a lot of posts about bad calls hurting the Cubs all season long. I would guess that a lot of teams' message boards are claiming the same thing about their teams too. In the end, the good teams are at the top and the mediocre teams are lagging behind just as expected.
We would love for accurate and consistent strike calling but using that as an excuse is the sign of a mediocre team looking for excuses. Every team is using the same umps and quality teams somehow manage to play through it and win games.
I hate the thought of trading Nico, but he has the most trade value while having a possible replacement. as I posted before, going all out for Vlad and using Busch, Paredes, Shaw at 2B/3b would improve the offense.
I think he's playing through an injury in addition to the psychological effect of playing on the worst team in MLB history. I think he's the perfect candidate for a bounce back, change-of-scenery player. 26 years old with career slash of .269/.317/.478/.795 with 31 HR and 86 RBI and 118 OPS. The last 26-year-old that had similar stats that came off of 2 horrendous seasons plagued by injuries has worked out great for us
Go all out for Vlad in a trade and use Busch as super utility. If the asking price on Robert has come down, I would love to swing a mega deal for Crochett and Robert as DH.
Their big problem is inconsistency. They went months with no offense from PCA, Amaya, and 3B and long streaks of very good relief pitching and bad relief pitching.
How about a lame duck President of baseball operations who actually saves his jub by spending money wisely and making good trades that will help short term without hurting things long term. Unfortunately, I don't think Hoyer has the brains or the cajónes to do it.
He certainly hasn't made an immediate impact, but Morel is at .191/.296/.357 for the season and .135/.250/.250 since the trade plus 3 errors in 7 games @ 2B (his "stronger" position).
The real question is: Shouldn't the President of Baseball Operations know what the payroll is before spending the whole season trying to stay under the luxury tax?
Defensive replacement and pinch running won't give him the reps he needs if he's going to ever develop into a hitter. If they get one of those players, you mentioned, he won't be getting many ABs.
I didn't miss anything. He's making adjustments, but they haven't changed much in his offensive numbers yet. His positive value comes entirely from his defense, which was never questioned by anyone. I get that he has tremendous potential, but he has to start hitting eventually to realize that potential. I'll be more than happy if he can become a .250 hitter with his defense and speed.
