  1. Hoyer believes in quantity over quality when it comes to 3B, backup IF, and relief pitchers.
  2. That's setting a pretty low bar when you have teams like the WS, A's, Pirates, etc.
  3. Teams like the Dodgers and the Yankees spend money like it's going out of style, but all teams make an obscene amount of money on TV rights, merchandising, tax write-offs, etc. before the season starts. Obviously, the big market teams have an advantage, but nobody is losing money. Ricketts investment has at least quadrupled since he bought it,
  4. Why would "the fix" be in? Ohtani liked Southern California, the Dodgers are a. great organization (with a long history of winning), Los Angeles has a lot of endorsement opportunities, and the Dodgers made the best offer.
  5. He's only played CF 5 times in his career too. LOL
  6. People keep saying that Tucker can play 1B when Busch sits. I suppose he "can", but he has only played 4 games at 1B and that was in 2019.
  7. Buehler isn't going to sign as a TOR pitcher, but we signed Boyd to a 2-year contract with a total of 1.0 WAR and 123 IP over the last 3 years.
  8. I don't get how they know what Steele, Imanaga, Busch, PCA are going to be making in 2027 and beyond since the players and their agents still don't know what they will get in arbitration or in an extension.
  9. Does that future spending include giant raises/extensions to Steele, Imanaga, Busch, PCA, etc.?
  10. They won't stay under this year if they sign Burnes and that "staggering amount under in 2027" will be eaten up by raises, arbitration, and looking for a new LF, DH, and solid middle of the rotation starter.
  11. Yeah, Suzuki can point out that he's now a DH against his will and when he mentioned it the trade rumors started.
  12. If the Padres would kick in some money, Arraez would be nice to have on the bench/3B support.
  13. Jed had better hire a doctor with the money to keep our regulars healthy with that bench.
  14. I saw another name that would be a cheap option at 3B/back up IF - Paul DeJong.
  15. Another cheap option might be Gio Urshela who has experience at 3B, SS, and 1B,
  16. This is ridiculous, Bellinger will help any and all of the rumored teams that are interested. Find a team that will take him (and his contract) and give us something that will help the Cubs now. If necessary expand the deal to get something of value.
  17. According to Baseball Trade Values Alcantara's value is about 19, while the Mariners young starters are well over 50.
  18. So, you think the Cubs are getting one of the Mariners' young pitchers for Alcantara? The Cubs would need to add two more prospects to have a chance.
  19. I think all these teams know that they have Hoyer desperate to make a deal Bellinger makes any team automatically better despite his salary and the same with Hoerner. Most of these trade proposals sound like the other teams are doing us a favor by taking Bellinger, Hoerner, Suzuki, Paredes, and our top prospects.
  20. "Reportedly" doesn't necessarily mean it was true, but in the end, they weren't even close to the winning offer which is the norm for Hoyer and the Cubs.
  21. You're going to need to add a prospect or two to get Woo or any of the other Mariner starters besides Castillo.
  22. Hoyer doesn't have a plan; he has the concept of a plan.
  23. He's been in charge here since 2021 and the team is 26 games below .500 since then, so I'm not sure he' knows what he's doing. Most of the years before that he was 2nd banana to Theo.
  24. As I posted above, you aren't getting Woo for Hoerner, Murray, and one of Wesneski/Wicks. That's why I included Garver and Thaiss. The other deal is an overpay, but Triantos, Alcantara, and Palencia are all prospects who may or may not be successful in the ML, while we are getting two solid ML players. Good teams sometimes overpay to get what they want.
