  1. That's like a weatherman saying, "It's going to rain or not".
  2. Jed's career peaked when he was getting coffee for Theo in 2016.
  3. Somebody with a .740 OPS and a 108 OPS+ would look great in this lineup of Mendoza line hitters.
  4. The same complaints about Bellinger and yet we see what happens to the Cubs lineup when he's not in it.
  5. Jeb will keep his job with mediocre, under budget team because that's all Ricketts needs.
  6. Why does it make you laugh? 2 bats and a closer for a team that doesn't want to spend money or trade prospects is a really tough hill to climb.
  7. Trading a bunch of prospects for Paredes solves a lot of offensive problems for years to come.
  8. Ding, Ding, we have a winner. Ricketts is horrible, Hoyer is just as bad, and Hawkins doesn't seem much better.
  9. They should have sent PCA down to the minors weeks ago (or trade him) and then Tauchman and/or Canario could play CF until Bellinger comes back.
  10. Tearing what down? A mediocre team that doesn't want to spend more money or trade prospects to be competitive.
  11. If only the schedule makers would let us play only really bad teams all season, we might be mediocre.
  12. There's no way the Cubs will be in on Soto. Did everyone forget the Ohtani saga?
  13. If only Ricketts would sell, we might have a chance next year.
  14. My problem with that is you would probably have to a "real" prospect like Shaw instead of Morel to get Paredes.
  15. And waiting to trade him means other teams will be snapping up players like Paredes.
  16. Another 1-1 1/2 years will really make him worthless as trade bait. At least now other teams might see some potential on what he did last year.
  17. This is what I've been saying all along. Trading a package of prospects (PCA, Morel, Cassie, Alcantara, Ballesteros, Triantos, Wicks, Triantos, Wesneski, etc.) certainly gets you in the door for Robert, Paredes, Vlad, etc. which fills the need for the big bat for the rest of this season and and the next few.
  18. I think there are some teams that would take a chance on Morel (or PCA) with the thought of fixing him. As for "little to no trade value", that describes most of the Cub's roster.
  19. Hoyer is waiting for players like Morel to lose all of his trade value before dumping him for next too nothing.
  20. He should be cheap and if you extend him, you have one less hole to fill for next year.
  21. It must be nice to have a front office that isn't asleep at the wheel.
  22. The problem is that many posters believe only in the sites that prove what they want to prove. My only complaint about the site is they seem to value years of control more than success at the ML level, which is why PCA is "more valuable" than Robert. That's why I padded our offer because we know the WS wouldn't accept a one-for-one deal in the real world.
  23. Wesneski (7.2) + Wicks (19.2) + Thompson (.8) + PCA (38.2) for Robert (36.4) + Kopach (-1). Numbers according to Baseball Trade Values. Huge overpay by the Cubs according to the numbers.
  24. If Hoyer would be willing to trade some prospects instead of holding onto them, we could outbid either of those teams. We have the assets to trade for Vlad, Robert, or Paredes to solve our offensive problems.
